 The Assignment ch17

Jessie was not sure what she could do as they rode to the stores. She simply at the moment knew she needed to mind Nana if she valued her behind. She found it hard to believe the community was doing this to them.

When Nana parked the car she took both girls by there hands.

"Now girls I expect you to stay within ten feet of me in the store. Don't think for a second I will not pull your dresses up and your diapers down right in the store if you don't mind."

"Yes Nana" the girls said in unison. Jamie understood the situation Jessie was in. She was acting as much the adult as she could consider the circumstances.

Just inside the store Jessie saw Jane White a fellow teacher. She was embarrassed that Nana was holding her hand but decided to do the brave thing anyway.

"Hi Jane " she said

Nana corrected her "That's Mrs. White to you Jessie." Jessie bit her lip to save her ass.

"Uhhhhhhhhh I mean Mrs. White how are you."

"I am fine good to see you Jessie you too Jamie."

Jamie just waved and smiled. They then went about there shopping. Nana allowed Jessie to tell Jamie how much money she would be allowed to spend on each gift.

Jamie complained that she needed some privacy to buy for Jessie and Nana. Nana then caved on her rules and told the girls that they had one hour in the store to shop on there own. Honestly she needed some time herself.

"Girls you come find Nana if you need a change."

Jessie, Nana and Jamie went there separate ways.

Jessie knew as she went to her shopping she would soon have to find Nana she was already a little damp.

A few minutes into her shopping maybe twenty she made her way to find Nana. She was not surprised to find her in the toy department.

"Nana I need a uhhhhh you know?"

"Speak up child what is it you need."

Jessie took a deep breath "Nana I need my diaper changed please?"

Nana smiled and took Jessie by the hand, and led her to the changing room.

It was just Jessie's luck she saw a couple other adults she knew changing their children while they waited in line.

Nana removed her pretty dress completely not wanting to wrinkle it and helped Jessie on the table. Jessie just shut her eyes now she truly knew the embarrassment that Jamie must of felt when she first came here.

Nana went about the diaper change just like any other talking quietly in baby talk to Jessie the whole time. When Nana lifted her off the table and began putting her dress on she was never so happy in her life. As soon as she was dressed Jessie asked if she could return to her shopping. Nana patted her on her diapered butt and sent her on her way.

Later right on time the girls met up with Nana. Then they each took turns going to the gift-wrap station. Nana mentioned something about wasting money. Jessie politely reminded her the money was for charity and this way they would not have to hide things when they got home.

Jessie also mentioned that she would need at least one more shopping trip before Christmas. Jamie nodded in agreement.

When they were finished Nana took them to lunch somehow Jessie did not find being bibbed in public nearly as embarrassing as being changed.

Christmas came and went with still no word from or about Michael. Through messengers both girls had sent him presents.

Jessie had fell into the role of big sister too Jamie and was doing a pretty good job of minding Nana. She had however decided to return to teaching just after New Years. Just the same she was yet to notify the school.

She was playing in the nursery with Jamie and Carol who was visiting. When she got up to go and find Nana who was watching a soap opera in the living room.

Jessie walked over "Nana can I talk to you a moment?"

Nana smiled and motioned for Jessie to sit in her ample lap.

Jessie took her seat.

"What can I do for you baby?"

"Nana I want to go back to work and teach."

"Honey I told you that you were welcome to after the holidays. I think the school board is expecting it."

"I know that Nana, its just well I , I don't want to go back to school in diapers. Understand Nana I have realized that Jamie and I need you here. I will pay you to take care of us. But please would you potty train me?"

Nana kissed Jessie on her cheek. "Honey Nana is not worried about her job. The town is not paying me not having a daughter of my own I just felt I was missing out under these strange circumstances and volunteered. I will stay as long as you like. As for the potty training I was wondering when you would ask.

I will call the school board and tell them the plan. We will start your training tomorrow, ok."

Jessie hugged Nana's neck it was amazing how much she had come to love this woman.

Just then the phone rang.

"I'll get it Nana "

Jessie hopped off her lap and skipped to the portable phone she did not answer it but brought it straight back to Nana.

Nana talked for a moment then said.

"Of course we will be there thanks for calling."

"Well Jessie Nana has some sewing to do. The day after tomorrow we have a New Years Eve dance to go too. I need to make my girls some dresses I already have the material."

Jessie giggled with glee and ran to tell Jamie. It seemed Carol had already been invited too.

Nana followed her she then changed all three girls before heading to her sewing machine.
