"I did it!" I heard Jungkook storm out of the kitchen with Hoseok trailing behind him. He had a confident grin plastered on his face, "You own me twenty bugs!"

Taehyung, Jin, Jimin and I watched their conversation in amusement as we lazily sat on the couches.

"Fine." Hoseok reluctantly pulled the money out of his jeans pocket and placed it on Jungkook's outstretched palm.

"What did you guys do?" I asked curiously and Jungkook immediately turned to me with a bright grin.
"Hoseok dared me to eat raw chicken breast!"

Jin snorted beside me, "You're gonna die dude, salmonella for sure."

Hoseok chuckled in amusement while plopping down beside Jimin on the couch. Jungkook laughed and mirrored Hoseok's actions by plopping down on Jimin's lap as there was no space left.

"I ate chicken, not salmon." He retorted assuringly while Jimin silently glared at him for using him as couch substitute.

Taehyung and I laughed in sync while Jin shook his head, giving up on his younger brother.

The guys continued their chat but my ears focused on the sudden voices coming from upstairs where Namjoon and Yoongi had disappeared to earlier.

I could pick up a few words from their hushed conversation, such as 'mate', 'fate' and even my name.

'Don't listen. Don't. Do—'

"I'm gonna go to the bathroom." I informed Taehyung and he nodded absently, still focused on their current conversation about how many chickens it would take to kill an elephant.

Silently rushing up the stairs, I followed the sound of my mate's voice and eventually entered the room next to the one they were in so I could securely eavesdrop.

Sniffing the air curtly, I identified it to be Jimin's room as it smelled of lilies and peppermint.

'He wouldn't mind me being in here for a bit, would he?'

I tiptoed to the wall and carefully rested my ear against it, now hearing them loud and clear.

"It can't work, Namjoon." I heard Yoongi let out a stressed sigh.

I wanted to believe that he was talking about his relationship with Elena, but even I knew that he wasn't.

"Why? Because of Elena?"

"That too. Elena and I know each other for years. I know she can be a little bit difficult to handle but we're practically made for each other."

I had a hard time keeping the whimper in that was so close to leave my throat. Hearing Yoongi say that he and his girlfriend were made for each other did feel like some violently pulled at the bond that connected us.

My feet automatically backed away from the wall, wanting to protect my ears from the painful words my mate spat. It was the first time I had wished for my hearing senses to be less sensitive. Because even after distancing myself from the wall, his voice was still more than prominent. It almost felt like my body forced me to listen.

"Just because Elena is a caligo doesn't mean that you're made for each other. You know you aren't. You're made for someone else."

"She's the exact opposite though. She's a lucidos. We're natural enemies."

"So? Hyung, you're the Alpha of a pack that is known for accepting wolves regardless of their descent. Taehyung isn't your enemy, although he's a lucidus."

It was quite for a while. I could only hear their soft breathing and my own rapid ones. I was sure they had already noticed me by my scent and anxious breathing. However, I didn't really care.

His words replayed in my mind over and over again and by the time the door had opened by a certain distressed black haired male, I had already opened Jimin's window and jumped down, running into the forest in my white wolf form.

"It can't work, Namjoon."

He sounded so sure saying those words, so pained. Pained to have me as his mate.

"We're natural enmies."
