"It's my what?!" I mumbled to everyone in the room. My eyes went small with shock as the thought hit me hard, like a wrecking ball.
The impact of the thought knocked me askew in Kyan's arms.
"You forgot?" Ubercorn asked, his expression confused.
"I-I think so..." I said, my voice still trembling.
"You think so?" said Abigail, rolling her eyes, "You've been fussing around all day, trying to remember."
"Now does all the strange behavior make sense to you?" Kyan asked, cuddling me tight.
It all suddenly pieced together in my mind. If everyone was trying to get away from me, it wasn't because they hated me...it was because they wanted to do something special for my birthday! Silly, silly me, I thought.
The look on my faced explained that I had finally swallowed the fact.
"What took you so long?" Ubercorn chuckled to himself.
"S-sorry, Ubercorn...I guess I just let my uneasiness get the better of me." I said.
"It is kind of hard for her brain to apprehend her thoughts," Abigail said, mainly to Ubercorn and Kyan, "She must've overworked it trying to figure out the cause of today's entire hullabaloo."
Ubercorn nodded, "I don't blame her...but it's kind of our fault, too."
Abigail seemed shocked. "Don't give yourself the blame, Ubercorn. We know what you were doing was for the best-"
"We knew she was already depressed of sorts," Ubercorn cut her off, putting his hoof on her mouth to shut her up, "We shouldn't have ignored her when she needed us the most." His head drooped in guilt.
He stayed like this for a while, before he grabbed Abigail and ushered her out of the room, he himself got out of the room afterwards. Kyan and I were the only people left in the room.
He looked down at me, his eyes meeting mine for a few seconds, before I closed my eyes and fell asleep a second later.
*Outside...*
Ubercorn's POV:
I dragged the doctor out of the room by her arm. I didn't stop until I made sure that Kyan and Xuli were out of earshot.
"What's the matter, Ubercorn?" Abigail asks, "It's really annoying, add the fact that you have no fingers."
"I need something to help make it up to her." I said solemnly, "What's her current mental condition?"
She looked surprised by my sudden question, before gathering herself together and saying, "She's really upset, and her anxiety seems to have gotten the best of her. Kyan can help manage that for now, but one thing can help maintain her recovery."
"What is it?"
"Well, the main reason she's like this was because of the unsuccessful mission at the Great Pacific Garbage Patch yesterday. She went there confident, and so sure of herself. However, when she failed, the shock that had overcome her seemed to hit her, and it left her in this condition. The only thing that can completely cheer her up another wave. A wave of great joy that'll hit her the same way the shock had. It'll help her enormously." She paused briefly, before saying, "You got anything in mind that'll help?"
I looked down, letting a few gears shift in my head, before getting the answer.
"I got it." I murmured to myself aloud.
"What was that?" She asked me.
"I got it!" I said, this time louder, "Get Kyan here. There's something that we need to work on at the Academy."
Abigail looked confused, but pulled herself together once more before walking to Xuli's room, opening the door, and walking in.
A couple minutes later, Kyan came out of the room. He looked a little upset about leaving Xuli in this condition, and I didn't blame him one bit; I felt the same way he did. But it was all for a good cause, as I knew. What I was planning would easily help her get over the misery she was feeling.
"What is it, Ubercorn?" He asked me, "Xuli really won't like it when she wakes up and finds out I'm not there." He folded his arms.
"We need to add the final touches to the surprise," I whispered, frequently looking around to make sure we weren't being watched.
"I know how to help Xuli get over her condition." I said simply.
"How? How?" He chorused, his confusion setting a queasy feeling in his gut.
"Come along," I said, galloping out of the corridor, Kyan in tow.
I had an idea to cheer Xuli up. Hopefully she can wait a little longer...
