Chapter Twelve

Dilan's POV

I had never felt such a thrill in my entire life. Seeing things appear and disappear in my visage that fast was very thrilling. For a moment, I had forgotten about my troubles, about what I was going through. I held onto Cleopatra tightly with adrenaline and excitement pumping in my body. I wished that the feeling would last forever. It felt so good, like I was free, carefree with nothing to worry about. I could see that Cleopatra was holding back and didn't run in her full speed but it was fine as the speed she was running at was already terrifying.

I held onto Cleopatra as I let my latest worries and troubles be thrown away by the rushing air against my skin. When I saw my uncle, it sort of reminded me of what I never had in most of my life, a father. Growing up I had my aunt with me so she made sure I got that motherly love everyone needed. But I never had someone to give me that fatherly love. My aunt never dated and I learnt the reason why, she had a mate and she couldn't love anyone than she had ever loved my uncle so I never got someone to look up to as a male or father figure in my life. When I realized that, I remembered why I would never get that fatherly love, it was because my parents were killed.

Now that I had learnt about the supernatural world, I realised that my parents death had never been an animal attack. When I had learnt vampires exist, I had thought about it but I quickly blocked that thought. But when I was reminded of my loss, of why I was an orphan, I couldn't fight that thought again. My wound was reopened and I at least had a clue of what happened to my parents and thirty one people. It was a vampire and I couldn't take it anymore. I had to cool my mind, my thoughts that were like a wild hurricane had to be stopped so I had asked Cleopatra to give me a vampire tour in the forest and that's when we were attacked.

When I saw those vampires, I suddenly became afraid. It was the default thing to do as I was a human and I was meeting my predators that had more reasons to be interested in me. I was so afraid and I wanted to get back home, be safe but then I heard a snarling sound next to me and there was Cleopatra. To be honest, Cleopatra didn't seem harmless. She had a petite body form and had an average height whereas those vampires seemed to be much bigger and stronger. But then I remembered that Cleopatra was so deadly when I saw her attack the vampires. She was so fast and her attacks were very lethal that she easily killed two vampires and the other one had to run away. It didn't take long for the vampire to return with other vampires and Cleopatra quickly picked me up as if I was weightless and ran so fast that I couldn't even see. It was like we were flying and her feet seemed not to touch the ground because of how fast they were going. Within thirty seconds, we had reached out home from so deep into the forest.

Cleopatra quickly barged in the house while carrying me in her arms. It looked so comical that she was carrying me as if I weighed nothing but when one saw her eyes, it wouldn't be comical. She was so deadly that even Kelvin seemed scared of her. Everyone was still at the dining table and they had been taken aback by the sudden appearance of the both of us. Cleopatra's hair was all messed up due to the wind and her feet were covered with mud and dirt.
"Vampires, they attacked us," she said to everyone quickly explaining why we were in such a state.

When Cleopatra said that, it was received differently by everyone. Kelvin's eyes seemed to have shifted into his wolf predator eyes as if he was ready for battle. He quickly glanced at us so as to make sure we were alright and then took out his phone and proceeded outside to finish the call and I could see that he was making sure that Cleopatra wasn't followed.

My uncle was already used to such things as he was an experienced werewolf that led the rebels. He looked at Cleopatra and then at his mate and daughter. That was to show that he would do anything to keep them safe and he too followed Kelvin outside.
