Dilan's POV
I was so afraid. Even with two Vampires protecting me, I couldn't help but be afraid. I had seen that wild look on Kairu. He no longer had a smile on his face which brightened with excitement and curiosity. He had the expression of someone hungry, someone desperate and someone really dangerous. He had an empty kind of feeling which could only be removed by drinking blood. The problem was, he wouldn't get satisfied. He would kill every living thing from humans to animals to werewolves to Vampires. Everything that had life and blood flowing in it's veins was surely in danger.
Cleopatra was zooming so fast that my human eyes couldn't make out the flashing images. Victoria was right behind us and I could sense she wasn't okay. She knew what Kairu could do and most probably kill her. She was worried for him, scared that when Kairu would be back to his senses, he would be so upset and hurt.
Cleopatra was scared too. It wasn't that hard to see that but she wasn't scared of Kairu only, she was scared of Julius Cesar. How could her soulmate look exactly like her nemesis, her greatest fear? She too had realized that there was more to the story than we knew.
Suddenly, we came to a stop. We were still in the forest. It was a random stop, as if she was thinking about something and suddenly realized something. Victoria also stopped next Cleopatra who let me go.
"What's wrong Cleopatra?" Victoria asked. She knew that every second spent in the forest was another second closer to death caused by Kairu. Victoria was actually the reason I was so afraid, so scared because she was afraid more than anyone else and yet she was his soulmate. Even as a berserker, I was sure that he would recognize his soulmate. But if he didn't, then that meant he would easily massacre everyone in his way.
I landed on my feet as I looked at my soulmate. She was thinking hard, trying to make sense out of everything we were going through. We had left the pack's house in high hopes of eliminating a vampire but at that moment, nothing seemed to go well with us. Kairu was obviously going to create a bloodbath and instead of defeating Julius, the werewolves would be killed even without Julius fighting. Nothing was going according to plan which made me realize that we actually never had a plan.
"Something else is going on," Cleopatra said to us.
I knew something else was going but the problem was, I didn't know what was really going on. Victoria at the same time was still receiving from the shock of seeing Kairu. I felt pity for her. She had been looking forward to seeing Kairu after the fight and when she saw him, he was a berserker that would kill her if she got even a hundred metres close.
"Yes and it's Kairu killing werewolves and us if we don't run," Victoria said. She wasn't the usual calm. Her British accent that was always perfect and smooth was cracked with fear and confusion.
"Not that," I said to Victoria who fluidly turned to me. As she looked at me, I realised that she wasn't in her usual vampire state where every movement she made was perfect and effortless. She was scared and even her body showed it as she looked at me suddenly, as if she was startled.
"She means something else is going on," I said and I looked at Cleopatra. She too thought the same.
"Every attack Julius Cesar has made has been strategic, well thought and that will obviously give out results," Cleopatra said.
I too hadn't realized that it was actually that. Every vampire attack wasn't sudden and random. Every thing he did was meant to happen.
"The first two Vampires that attacked, they made everyone including the hunters realise that it was serious. Hunters began to come back into the town. At the same time, three werewolves get killed which make the werewolves angry and unites them. He then unleashes the seven newborn Vampires that unleash chaos. But at the same time, Liz was actually one with a purpose. Get into the werewolves and make them so angry that if they knew of Cesar's location, they would go running. The hunters were all massacred with Rose being the target and now the werewolves got into his trap. It is all well thought," she explained.
