I bunked school today. I have some periods next to Niomi so I decided to just leave. I don't have that many bad lessons though so, ugh.

I can't believe I said that. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I said it because now she knows. But I still wish I could have said it less harsh. It's not Niomi's fault that she didn't know. And she thought I was joking.

I stumble into someone, which means I've been thinking way too much.

NOT A GOOD SIGN.

"Marcus Butler?"

Crap! Miss Enfield, my maths teacher.

"Err, hi miss" I stammer, slowly backing away. "What are you doing out of school Miss?"

"I'm quite ill, Marcus" she says. She looks me up and down. "May I ask you the same question?"

"I'm ill, too" I lie. What am I meant to say? Oh yeah Miss, im bunking school because I've been friend zoned by my best friend. Sure. Right!

"You look fine to me. Temperature or vomit?"

"Vomit."

"I doubt that Marcus." She is stern.

"Why?" I protest. She can't guess and think she's right. CHEAT.

"because you always miss school. I overheard you saying it to Matthew." She gives me a look. I don't know what to say.

"It's Matt, miss. He hates being named Matthew."

"Forgive me. Now why are you missing it today?" She stares at me coldly. She's winning.

"Niomi." I sit down on the bench and put my head in my hands.

Miss Enfield sighs. "Love is a wonder, Marcus Butler" she says. "But never forget the saying I'm about to tell you."

"Go on, Miss."

"It's the people you love the most, that destroy us. Now are you going to let the person you love destroy you?" And she walks away.

Teachers are dumb, but right. She's the reason Niomi and I are dating now.
