Robyn's head turned slowly to the door that had been knocked off of its hinges. She had been avoiding Maurice all night, and most of the morning. Running into him as she visited the bathroom, as her bladder was about to burst. She had been avoiding leaving the locked bedroom.
"WHY do you always do this?" Maurice huffed, his shoulders raising up and down rapidly as he breathed through his nose.
"Wha-" Robyn didn't have the time to even digest what had happened before he was already spewing facts.
"You did this when I asked you to be official, you hid even though we were in the same damn house! And you shut down when it hit you that we were having this baby, and now again when I've asked you to marry me. When are you gonna start believing that I'm not Aubrey?!!" He nostril flared as he stood in the doorway, that no longer held the door on. Luckily he had pre-purchased the house and it's furnishings.
Robyn looked like a deer caught in headlights, she must admit though, her behaviour wasn't right. Especially with how much she loved and valued the man standing before her, somehow managing to make her feel some type of way! Even with the fact that she was the cause behind all of this anger fuelling the man before her.
"ROBYN!" He barked, now charging towards her. His demeanour changing when he knelt in front of her. His breathing calming as his huge hand reached out to cup her expanding stomach. "I admit, I never imagined asking the woman I loved, the one made just for me, to marry me in that such manor... But I don't take back anything. I will happily ask you to marry me for the rest of our life. Continue to chase you, even though you repeatedly try to run from this! I prayed for you, dreamt of you, so ima have you, even if it's in my dying breath! Robyn, I ask you again... Will you marry me?"
She was stunned, pretty sure she still replicated a deer. But her face soon caught up with her mind, that was going wild. Her brows frowning, as if she had to search for an answer. Her tongue twisting, desperate to get her words out. Her heart shaped lips forming into the words he was dying to hear, before closing up.
"Ain't no running now Ma..." he spoke so softly, she wasn't sure she heard him right, his words speaking in a whole other tone than how they came out. His digits running along her stomach as their unborn son kicked at him.
Maurice was patient, stayed knelt in front of her as the room filled with silence a long while ago. Simply enjoying this moment of calm, in their seemingly whirlwind of a life. Taking the time to bond with his son, that he already knew was all his mama, because that's what he prayed for.
He looked up into Robyn's face, admiring every feature it held, from the piercing hazel eyes, that favoured the green more over the light brown. Her pursed heart shape lips, looking so damn kissable, even though he was annoyed with her. His eyes then travelled down to her neck, glancing over the words "rebelle fleur" inked into the side her neck in a cursive like font. Before he met the Roman numerals on her shoulder. Through her sheer t-shirt, he could make out her nipple piercing, then the tattoo sprawling across the under of her breasts. Their son being a hinderance to that particular piece of art etched into her skin. Now her bump, that was currently growing their unborn son, stretched to the max, yet no evidence of anything.
"... I will" she answered meekly. His eyes shooting up into her confused face.
"What'd you say ma?" He asked, sitting back so that he could witness the words leaving her mouth. Hopefully more willingly and done so in more confidence.
"I will marry you Maurice."
