Ten hours. That is how long I have been driving. I don't have a clear intention as to where I'm going but I just began to go north. All of my friends have been texting me but I couldn't text back. What would I even say? 'I cut in the shower and then my ex kissed me three times and now I'm just driving'. That would sound ridiculous. I don't even know if I'm still in Florida. It is currently seven in the morning and I have not spoken to a single person in ten hours. I suddenly felt the urge to call my mother but not to talk. I wanted to cry and be a baby again. I wanted to tell her I got my heart broken and I wanna come back home but I couldn't do that. I soon realized that I had arrived in Atlanta. I found a parking lot and fell asleep. When I awoke it was six in the evening. I'm not really sure why or how I slept that long but I felt refreshed so I guess that was a good thing. I went into a drug store to get one of those ready to go toothbrushes that already had the toothpaste. I wasn't hungry which was weird but I figured it was just nerves. Once I got back in my car, I drove to a karaoke bar. Singing was something I had always been interested in but never really had the opportunity to pursue it outside of the shower. Entering the club, I noticed it wasn't that crowded which was good. I went up to the stage and selected a song I knew and related to quite well. After I finished singing 'Fade' by James Arthur, again, I noticed a woman staring at me quite intently.

"Um hi, can I help you?" I asked stepping off the stage.

"Do you live around here?"

"Why do you want to know?"

"Because I want to sign you."

"Hahaha, you're funny. That doesn't really happen. Who are you really?" A business card was thrust into my hands. She actually was an A&R rep. "Oh shit, sorry. No, I don't live around here."

"Where do you live?"

"I live between Miami and Richmond."

"Why those two very different places if I may ask."

"Well, Mrs." I scoured the business card. "Mrs. Lilholt, I live Richmond but I go to school in Miami, so during school I live down there."

"Shouldn't you be there now then? What are you doing in the great state of Georgia?"

"Isn't this getting a little personal?"

"You wanna talk about personal, then let's talk about your performance because you sang that song as though someone hurt you recently." I stayed quiet and she smiled. "Right on the money aren't I? Well kid, if I may offer you some advice? Always go with your gut and stop running away from problems - it gets you nowhere."

"Well Mrs. Lilholt, I don't think I'll be able to be signed right now. I think I gotta finish school first - I only have a year left. But if you're ever in the Miami ever look me up - Charli Delgado - Westfield Mount Boarding School."

"You go to WMBS?"

"You've heard of it?"

"I graduated from there about ten years ago and my little brother is a junior there, maybe you know him - Tristan Waters?" My ears immediately went red.

"It was very nice to meet you Mrs. Lilholt - I should be going now."

"Wait do you know him?"

"Yes."

"Oh goodie, are you guys friends?"

"Um, we're roommates."

"Small world huh?"

"The smallest." I smiled through gritted teeth. "See you around then - I should get going back to school." I hastily left the karaoke bar. Of fucking course. Just my luck that someone wanted to sign me but that person was my goddamn evil roommate's older sister. How!? How does this type of bullshit keep happening to me? When I returned to school ten hours later it was nearing five in the morning. I sat in my car and watched the sunrise before actually going back into my room. I immediately went to shower and when I came out I was bombarded. How did they even know I was back? Tessa, Chris, Amir, and Alissa were crowding by my bed with questioning looks on their faces.
