Reluctantly going home, Namjoon changed out of his uniform and got in the shower. He scrubbed himself clean, knowing that Jin would complain if he ever misses a spot. After rinsing, he got out and put on freshly washed clothes.
The unknown feeling was still there, slowly eating at his young mind but he chose to ignore it. He didn't exactly know what it was and continuously thinking about it, trying to figure out what it really is, isn't worth the candle. He's got more important matters to attend to.
Going down the stairs and making a short detour into their kitchen to grab some cookies, Namjoon headed out and was greeted by the already dark sky.
He started walking to Seokjin's house, quietly munching on the sweet and delicious treat. A scowl appeared on his face when he remembered what Jin just did.
It wasn't the first time Jin left him at school and headed home by himself. But that doesn't make the action any less annoying.
Swallowing the last pieces of the biscuit, Namjoon stopped in his tracks upon noticing the huddled bodies in front of Jin's home.
He narrowed his eyes, trying to figure out the faces of the four people in the darkness. Thankfully, a lamppost nearby offered just enough amount of light to help Namjoon recognize the silhouettes.
It's his and Jin's parents. His mother and father are with Seokjin's father and are quietly talking amongst themselves, clear worry in their expressions. Seokjin's mom was talking on the phone just steps away, voice quiet.
"Appa?" Heads turned to Namjoon as he started to hasten his steps. Reaching his father, Namjoon looked up, meeting the man's eyes who then forced a smile and patted his head.
Namjoon directed his gaze to Jin's parents who didn't even bother hiding their anxious faces. "Is Jinnie still not home?"
Seokjin's father was the one who answered. "He still hasn't, Namjoon-ah."
"He's not at the pet store." The distress was clear on the voice of Jin's mother as she returned to the group, phone in one hand. "He hasn't visited the place since last week."
"Shit." Namjoon transferred his attention to his mother who looked at Jin's parents in question. "Do you know where else he could have gone?"
"The pet store's the only place he could have gone. He usually just goes straight home." Tears has now started to gather in her eyes as she helplessly looked at her husband. "Jagi, what should we do?"
"How about we try looking for him first? Maybe he got held up by some of the grannies who likes giving cookies to kids near the park. Or maybe he stopped by the arcade to play for a while and lost track of time. It's gonna be fine. He couldn't have gone somewhere far." Namjoon's mother suggested.
Her husband nodded in agreement, looking thoughtful. "We can do that. And if we still don't manage to find him within an hour, we can go and call the authorities for help."
Namjoon's mother gave Seokjin's parents a look. "What do you guys think?"
Seokjin's dad slowly nodded, briefly glancing at his wife and pulling her closer upon seeing the obvious look of fear and desperation in her face. "That would be fine."
