The drive back to the Devils Angels territory was long and quiet. Mayah stared out the window dreading Roach's reaction to her absence. Noticing her change in behavior, Adriano reaches for her hand rubbing in circular motions hoping to relax her a little before their arrival. He had been busy texting and emailing orders to investigate the brand tattooed on Mayah's wrist and her so called owner Marco Montoya along with the man who had attacked her at school. Under the assumption the address Mayah gave was leading him to her abuser, he felt an anger build inside him not understanding why she would want to go back.
Pulling up the Devils headquarters, Mayah lets out a loud sigh as she opened the door.
"Princess" he said as she turned to open the door. "Princess wait-" he called out to her as she opened the door, getting out of the limo. "Shit!" he said climbing out after her hearing the sound of guns clicking. Seeing the twenty or so men with guns pointed at them exiting the limo, he grabbed Mayah forcing her back behind her with one arm pulling a gun with the other.
"Get back in the car" he commanded.
"Adriano" she said trying to maneuver around him. "Adriano" she said again touching his arm. "I have to go" she whispered trying to pull her arm from his grasp. She wasn't sure if she was more afraid of leaving Adriano's presence or not knowing if she would be in trouble with her new father figure.
"She said she has to go" she heard Roach's voice behind her. Taking a deep breath, she turns to face Roach. "Release her now." Roach warned cocking his gun.
"Roach, please-" she pleaded before Adriano cuts her off.
"Roach? Fitting name for an asshole who does this to someone." he spat. "You enjoy abusing girls?" he was furious assuming this was one of Marco's henchmen. "Mayah get back in the car!" he commanded again.
"Is that what you think?" yelled Roach enraged at his assumption.
"Well she won't say anything!" yelled Adriano. "She's too afraid to say shit!" he yelled accusingly. "Mayah, I promised to bring you home and make sure your safe. Get back in the car" he said trying to position himself between her and Roach.
Finally realizing that Adriano had the wrong impression of Roach and the Devils Angels, she screamed. "Stop it! He didn't do it!" Maya yelled. "He saved me. Adriano please stop!" she pleaded looking around at both Adriano and Roach's men.
After convincing both sides to lower their weapons. Mayah convinced both Roach and Adriano to try to talk to each other so she could explain to Roach how she ended up with him for the day. After hours of talking, the men worked out an alliance for their common interest. Mayah. Afraid to leave the two and their men alone, Mayah made coffee and snacks for Roach and Adriano to try and keep the peace.
Mayah listened to Roach tell Adriano how she was under the protection of the Devils Angels. Understanding that Roach saw Mayah nothing more than as a daughter, he went on to explain how Mayah ended up with him at his estate before bringing her home. He knew if he couldn't get his emotions in check when it came to her and her safety, he'd have to have a different kind of chat with the Devils president eventually.
Mayah couldn't help but shiver at each detail. Noticing a treacherous tear slide down her cheek, Adriano reached out to wipe it. Trailing the tears trail along her cheek, Adriano hears Roach clear his throat. Snapping back to reality, realizing his error. He leans away from Mayah still holding her gaze for another moment. After a pregnant pause, Adriano clears his throat finally turning towards the table unaware that a few more Devils Angels had joined them while he was distracted. Taking a sip of the coffee Mayah had brought earlier, he noticed Roach and Kace with not so happy looks on their face. Not wanting to cause any problems, Adriano decided to try to refrain from acting on the pull he felt towards Mayah.
Sensing the change in the atmosphere, Mayah excused herself to get a refill on her drink taking a deep breath not realizing Kace had followed her out.
"Is there something I should know?" he asked blocking her way back to the meeting.
"I don't know what your talking about" she said trying to pass by.
"Bull Mayah, he was fucking touching your face! Are you a thing?" he asked upset. "Does Roach know?"
"Kace, what's your problem?" she hissed back at him. "No! We aren't a thing!" His sudden change in character surprised her. "He was just wiping a tear because I was crying"
"He doesn't touch you again. Got it?" he said to her with both hands on each side of her had trapping her against the wall. When she didn't respond he cupped her chin. "Mayah, I asked you a question," he said.
"Kace, your hurting me..." she whispered. His possessiveness over her scared her.
Seeing the fear in her eyes, he let go of her face. Moving to let her pass he let out a groan of frustration not understanding how he was given strict instructions that Mayah was off limits and here this guy was touching her. Deciding to ask Roach for his blessing to date her, he followed her back in with the others. Watching her walk back to the table, he watched her as Roach slid a chair out next to him seeming to want to put distance between Mayah and Adriano as well. Seeing the frown on Adriano's face, Kace smiled to himself.
Sensing the tension in the room, Mayah speaks up. "I'm sorry" she apologized to everyone looking around the room. "I seem to bring problems no matter where I go," she said. "I think it's time you guys get the answers you've been looking for about my past" she said taking a deep breath. It's going to be a long night she thought to herself.
