"Here are your discharge instructions. Make sure you don't do any heavy lifting. You will have a follow up appointment in seven to ten days for your stitches." The nurse handed Mayah the discharge papers while Roach signed for her discharge.

"Thank you," said Mayah following the nurse down the hall where Adriano and Krista were waiting.

"Mayah!" squealed Krista. "Dad, can we stop and eat somewhere? Mayah has to be tired of the nasty food they fed her in there."
"I think she needs to get home and rest. Besides, the Devil's daughters need to get to know each other" Roach said walking out of the hospital. "Especially since you both will be going to school together."

Krista and Mayah smiled at each other as they followed Roach to his Toyota Sequoia. The ride was uneventful. Krista spent most of her time telling Mayah about the plans she has for shopping and school clubs.

"I always wanted a sister! This is going to be so much fun!" she squealed.

"Welcome home, again." Roach said with a smile. "We made some changes to your room...Krista here said it was too boring."

"It was!" Krista slid out of the SUV opening Mayah's door.

"It's fine. No matter how it looks, I'm sure its fine. I'm just happy to be home." Letting out a sigh of relief she followed them into the house.

"Adriano said he's coming by later. He had some meeting or something he had to go to...um I gotta ask," Krista waited until Roach was out of earshot before continuing. "What's his deal with you? Kace swears you two are dating but dad-"

"I didn't say they were dating," Kace cut in rounding the corner. "I said that he wants to date her." He leaned toward Krista before looking over at Mayah. "I also told her he was bad news and to stay away from him."

"You're not her dad Kace...If Mayah wants to date, she can date whoever she wants." Putting her hand on Kace's chest, she pushed him away.

"Oh, um-, me and Adriano... we're not-" Mayah stammered.

"It doesn't matter Mayah. My point is you can date whoever you want." Krista knew that Kace liked Mayah. She also knew that her father made it very clear that he didn't want Kace to date her. "Lets go, let me show you your new room." she pushed pass Kace carefully dragging Mayah behind her to the stairs.

"What's his problem?" Mayah asked as they entered the bedroom.

"He's just being overprotective...that's all," responded Krista. She knew that Kace liked Mayah but she also knew that Adriano did too. She also secretly had a crush on Kace and hoped that Mayah would date Adriano even though he was six years older than her.

"Wow! You did this to the room? Its awesome!" Mayah squealed in excitement. "Its...thank you so much." she hugged Krista tightly.

"Now that you've checked out your room, dad wants us downstairs. He ordered dinner and said we have a lot to talk about." She rolled her eyes as she lead Mayah back down the stairs. She wasn't particularly looking forward to her father's little chat. She knew that there were ground rules that had to be put in place in order for them to be able to go back to school but she was worried that with everything that happened, the rules would be too strict.

As the girls made their way to the kitchen, Kace was already there waiting along with Doc, Stitch and Roach. Once everyone was present, everyone took a seat at the kitchen island while Stitch started opening the Chinese food they ordered.

"So Krista, you showed Mayah her new room?" asked Roach grabbing some fried rice before passing it down the table.

"Yes, she loves it!"

"Good. Mayah, how are you feeling?" he asked after taking a bite of his food.

"A little sore but I'm okay," she said meekly.

"Okay, good. Now that you both are back home...we need to talk." He looked at Krista first before shifting his gaze to Mayah. "I'm not going to lecture you two about the past but I will lecture you both about the future." Roach sat his fork down. "You two will go straight to school and come straight home. No stops. If you want to go out somewhere, it needs to be approved by me or anyone else who is at this table. And no matter where you go, you are not allowed to go alone." Roach looked around the table. "Anyone have anything to say, say it now." he instructed.

"Yeah, I got something to say," Kace leaned back in his seat looking at Roach before looking at Krista who rolled her eyes. "Roach might not lecture you guys but I will. This sneakin out shit is gonna stop. We-"

"Kace, leave it." Stitch was glaring at Kace. "Roach said he wasn't going to lecture. That means its done. Drop it."

"I was just saying-"

"And I just said drop it. They been through enough." spat Stitch clenching his fork.

The rest of the dinner went without incident. When everyone finished eating, Mayah quietly helped Stitch clear the tables and throw the Chinese food boxes away. Once they were done, Mayah turned to head upstairs.

"Kid..hold up." he said to her as she reached the first step. "Look, about-"

"Its okay...I get it," she interrupted. "He's mad at me because I didn't listen."

"He's an ass," he chuckled. "Go on, get some rest kid." he said.

"Night," she responded heading up the stairs.

Making her way from the top of the stairs to her room, as she entered someone clamped their hand over her mouth and she was pushed against the wall. She began to panic and began clawing at the assailants hand over her mouth.

"Shhhh, its Kace! Relax!" he whispered to her. "Calm down, I'm going to remove my hand...don't scream."

"Geez! What in the world? Why are you in my room?" she hissed barely whispering.

"I need to talk to you."

"No, get out!"

"Just hear me out...please," he pleaded with her. "I'm sorry I've been a jerk. I was just really worried about you." he said touching the side of her face.

"Kace-"

"I'm not done. I like you Mayah...a lot. And so does Adriano." His face was so close to hers their noses were almost touching. "I want to kiss you...I need to kiss you," he breathed as he leaned closer.

"Kace, please don't-"

"Shhhh, just one kiss." he whispered before kissing her passionately. Once he pulled away, he reached up and stroked her cheek. "Mayah," he whispered before leaning in for another kiss.

"Kace, stop." She breathed out trying to catch her breath with both hands on his chest. "We can't."

"Is it because of him? He already asked you out, didn't he?"

"No Kace, it's not because of him... and no he didn't. Just-please," she pleaded. She had developed a crush on Adriano but didn't want to tell Kace because she didn't know he would react.

"Then why not?"

"Because... just because. Now go." and please don't kiss me again she pleaded silently to herself.

"Fine, I'm leaving," he growled.

Mayah held her breath as she watched him leave. Once he closed the door behind him, she exhaled the breath she was holding. She rushed to the door and locked it before sliding down into a sitting position. Too afraid to move from the door, she rested her head on her arms and drifted to sleep
