Chapter 7 : The Aft Hold

Hongjoong was waiting in the aft hold, foot tapping the floor. It was unlikely his Quartermaster to be late. He took out his watch looking at the time passing by. Just when he was about to leave, he heard loud steps in the stairs.

"You're late" Hongjoong said.

"I'm sorry, I had some stuff to deal with" Mingi apologized.

The captain nods, still not convinced, before opening the door he was leaning on. In the room stood a little girl. She was playing with her stuffed bear while smiling.

"Seohyung" Hongjoong called.

"Father" she exclaimed before running to hug her dad.

"Can't I have my hug as well?" Mingi fake pouted as the child laughed before hugging him as well.

"Did you have fun today?" Hongjoong asked.

"Yeah, but Uncle Mingi didn't come like usual. It doesn't matter, come read a story!" she replied.

Hongjoong sent a not so subtle glare at his friend as his daughter brought him in her room so she could go to sleep. Mingi knew he should have come check on her, but he had this weird feeling he had to watch over you.

~ The Next Day ~

Yunho greeted you as you walked towards the main mast. You greeted back with a smile before Mingi joined.

"Do you remember what I showed you?" Yunho asked.

"Yeah, I think so"

"Yunho, go first, I'll follow behind you two" Mingi said and Yunho started to climb.

You repeated his actions, following him closely. At some point, you started to realize how high you were which made you froze in place.

"Hey, you okay?" Mingi asked as he noticed you stopped climbing.

"I- maybe.."

"So you are not" he sighed. "Don't look down, look up. We are almost there, and I'm here if anything happens"

You took a deep breath and continued to climb up. Just as he told you, you were almost there. You finally made it to the top successfully, without freaking out which surprised you.

"Okay, I'll leave you two. Call me if you need anything" Mingi said before climbing down.

You watched the horizon in awe. It was beautiful.

"Awesome, isn't it?" Yunho said.

"Yeah, you're very lucky to get to see this scenary everday"

"Yeah. So what I do here is check if there are any lands or ships close. I come to check at least 3 times a day, including the night just in case. When we have a higher possibility of being threatnen, I would come a bit more on guard"

"Oh" you respond nodding.

"You could try" he said as he lent you his telescope.

You took a look at it before putting it over your eye. You observed the surroundings. Port? Nothing. Stern? Nothing. Starboard? Still nothing. Bow? Nothing. Or maybe not... You zoomed a little and noticed a dot from afar.

"There's something" you stated.

"Really?" Yunho said confused.

He took his telescope back as you showed him where you saw the thing.

"I think we're in a bit of a trouble. We have to get down and aware the captain about it" he told and started to go down.

You followed him, watching where you put your feet on, and then you both went to Hongjoong's cabin. Surprisingly, it was Yeosang who answered.

"What is it?" he asked, clearly annoyed.

"The Greens" was all Yunho said, enoughfor Yeosang to shift his look to a stern one.

"Hongjoong and Mingi went to the aft hold" he said. "It's an emergency, he shouldn't be mad if we go there to warn him, should he?"

"Either way, he'll be mad" Yunho replied.

"Then go to him with Y/N, I'll prepare the crew. How far were they?"

"It was still a dot when we checked"

"Which gives us about an hour considering the speed of their ships... Good, now go" he shooed us away.

"Follow me" Yunho said and  you did. "Even I never went to the aft hold, but I know where it is"

You two ran as fast as you could until you came upon a staircase. You hesitately went down and you were now facing a door. You gave a worried look to Yunho before knocking.

Mingi looks up from the sleepy girl to Hongjoong in panick.

"They aren't supposed to come down here" he whispers.

"They better have a good reason" Hongjoong groaned quietly as he got up from his seat to open the door just a little.

"Captain, we know we shouldn't be here" Yunho apologized.

"But we have to report you that the Greens are currently navigating towards us" you complete.
