Chapter 8 : Battle

"Yunho, go warn San and Seonghwa. After that, meet me at the fore deck. Y/N, go join Jongho and Wooyoung so you could prepare the canons. Mingi, follow me" Hongjoong ordered us and we all went separate ways.

As soon as you join Jongho, he gave you all sorts of instructions which you struggled to keep up with. Not even 2 weeks on the ship, you didn't have enough knowledge about the pirate life yet.

Wooyoung quickly came to help you with other members of the crew.

"Do we really have to fight?" you asked as Wooyoung lead you to the powder room.

"Not always but when it's the Greens, yes" Wooyoung said.

You arrived in the powder room and he threw a few guns in your direction and you jumped back in surprise.

"Bring those to the crew. Captain is probably already doing his speech. I'll come with the powder" he instructed and you nodded before going back to the fore deck.

When you got there, Hongjoong was speaking to the whole team. You gave the guns to everyone while listening.

"Our main goal is to get the book back, and if they don't have it, we'll keep an hostage or two. All thanks to a certain person" he glanced at Mingi who looked at his feet. "Stay careful and good luck, everyone" he dismissed.

As you were about to give a gun to Seonghwa, you felt a hand grabbing your arm. You cursed in confusion and looked at the person who grabbed you to realize it was Mingi. He brought you to the nursery room where San was preparing everything in case someone got injured.

"Okay, first, Mingi what the hell? It hurts. And second, why did you bring me here?" you exclaimed and Mingi let go of your arm while San sighed.

"I learnt you know about the book" San said.

"Yeah... and?"

"Don't tell Hongjoong about it" Mingi quickly responded.

"What? But that's the main reason why he wants us to almost get killed!" you yelled.

"The getting killed part is actually pretty recurrent" San said and you shot a glare at him making him put his hands up.

"He's gonna learn about it, anyway"

"I know, just please, listen. I asked for San to help me analyze the prophecy. I think we got to something. That's not really important, but Hongjoong had it all wrong. The child is actually not a child and the book isn't what we need to find to know how the world will be saved. Plus, the witch also isn't the person we thought about"

"I know it sounds really confusing, but it has a lot more to do with the Greens than we thought. That's why we need one of them" San added.

"Which is why you want Hongjoong to think we need an hostage" you concluded.

"Exactly"

"I swear to God, if we ever get caught in your little secret..." you sighed in disbelief.

"It's your secret as well, now" Mingi precised.

"I still don't get the prophecy and all, but sure, I'll help"

A loud noise suddenly interrupted your little reunion.

"Already? I thought we had an hour" Mingi said while frowning.

He opened the door only to reveal the crew in panic. Everyone was running around, firing canons every now and then. You all looked at each other before you and Mingi ran out of the room. San stayed in, continuing to prepare his stuff.

"Where were you?" Yeosang yelled at you two. "Among the whole team, you both are the ones who must be here, especially you, Mingi"

"San needed help. Now we're here" Mingi answered.

"Okay... well, they apparently upgraded their ship since their speed has increased since our last encounter. For now, we hit them twice and they hit us five times"

"Shit" Mingi said, suddenly in panic. "Is the aft hold touched?"

"No, Hongjoong went there, for whatever reason, and put me in charge because you were missing"

"Right. Y/N, go help Yunho to put the ropes in place"

"Ropes?" you asked.

"Yeah, so we can swing to their ship" Yeosang said with an obvious look.

You searched for Yunho and found him near his look-out post, untying knots. You rushed to his side and started to help him. You hurried as you noticed the attacks were more intense than before.

"They're ready" Yunho yelled as he pulled you out of the way.

Members of the crew took a grip onto the ropes, flying to the Green's ship. Jongho and Wooyoung joined you two and gave you swords making you widen your eyes.

"You kidding, right?" you said to Jongho.

"I know you haven't trained for that kind of fight, but you'll be fine. Just stick with us" he answered with an apologetic smile.

You jumped on ropes, crossing the space that separated the two boats. As you landed on the main deck, you observed the scene in front of you. Blood, cries, weapons... you were shocked. The Greens were easily recognizable with their green uniforms, now you understood the origin of their nickname.

You thoughts were quickly interrupted by a sword almost striking your arm. Another sword appeared, blocking the enemy.

"Don't stay still, fight!" Mingi said, still fighting with the guy who barely hurt you.

You hurried to look around and noticed that Yeosang seemed to struggle while fighting against three Greens. You ran to his side and kept one of them occupied. Yeosang managed to knock the two others out and then proceeded to help you. You successfully punched with your gun the Green's head.

"Thanks" Yeosang said.

"No problem" you smiled but it soon went away as you heard a loud cry.
