Story Five: Mei: Part Two

It had been two months since Mei last heard from Kiana and the others. She was sad but had Alex to support her. It had been summer so now she was on break from training for a few months. She and Alex had also begun to date. The two love each other very much. Himeko always cracks jokes about the couple and encourages them along.

It was a normal summer day Mei was in her outfit ready to go to the beach with theresa, Himeko and Alex. She was just finishing up when Himeko yelled out "I got a signal from Kiana." Mei rushed over and said "What where?" Himeko passed her a radio and Mei said "Kiana are you there? Please say something?" There was static but Mei heard "Mei, ist that You? it's good to hear from you. I've been trying for a while to reach you." Mei smiled "Is everything alright? How is your fever?" Kiana chuckled "I'm better than ever. As for everything else." Kiana sighed "We're trying evacuating a city that is under siege by Honkai. Bronya and Fu Hua are doing the best they can against beasts. But the zombies, they've been upped. The other two can barely make a dent in the zombies while I demolish them. The three of us are now trying to rescue trapped civilians." Mei then said "Please come home safe. I miss all of you." kiana chuckled "Mei, you can count on- What the?! zombies. Get out you--" Mei was shocked "Kiana? Kiana!" mei looked down and was about to cry when Kiana came back "Sorry about that, stupid zombies thought it'd be funny to bust in. See you soon mei." mei breathed a sigh of relief. Alex then gave Mei a hug. "I'm sure she'll be fine" mei Kissed Alex and said "Yeah, i know it."

The city was nice at this time of year the sun shone in nice patterns when standing in the right spot. Alex and Mei were going to get some supplies before meeting Theresa and Himeko at the beach. Alex looked at Mei's hand and went to grab it. Mei felt something cool touch her hand and she saw Alex hold her hand. She just smiled and made a firm grasp. The two then walked to the store. 

20 minutes later Alex and Mei left the store with the beach supplies. Alex smiled at Mei and she smiled back before looking away and stopping. Alex with concern said "Is everything alright?" mei looked Back to Alex and said "I should have told Kiana about us, I-" Alex chuckled "It's Alright, Himeko told her when we first got contact because she knew you wouldn't do It." Mei sighed "Did Kiana say anything?" Alex smiled "She said that she wants you to be happy and that she was happy for you." Mei was relieved and the two then continued their walk to the beach.

"Kiana, something weird is going on?" Said fu Hua "Heh, what?" Replied Kiana. Fu Hua looked outside and said "Beasts are no longer fighting humans, they're now attacking the zombies." Kiana and Bronya looked out as well and saw a ganesha bowling down zombies. "The fuck?" Said Kiana looking shocked at the beasts. "It's so weird watching this. Like a phenomenon that shouldn't exist." Kiana then turned to Fu Hua "What do we do now?" Fu Hua shrugged "I dunno, I have never had this experience before. I guess we should just go home?" Bronya then said "The bronya thinks that is a good Idea." Before exiting the place, Fu Hua said to Kiana "Hey, could I take you out some time." Kiana chuckled "Of course. That'd be nice. It's a date then." Fu Hua was in shock "Wait you want to go on a date? What about Mei?" Kiana laughed "Mei has been dating someone else for a while. I don't care though as long as she is happy, I am happy."

It became late and Aex and Mei were alone, the sun just set and the two were sitting on a bench near the beach. The two held hands leaning on each other. The two just looked at the ocean and watched the waves. Alex sighed and got up "I think we should go back now. It's quite late" Mei smiled "It's ok Alex. I am getting a bit tired." The two then started to walk back. 

Alex pulled out his phone and saw some weird readings. Honkai energy and Project end energy were overlapping in size. He sighed again and thought "Mei really is Project end. I can't let her know. Not yet at least. My priority is to keep her happy and protect her." Mei then looked Alex in the Eyes and said "is everything alright?" Alex rubbed the back of his head and said "Oh yeah, I was just thinking about your friend. Kiana was it?" Mei giggled "What were you thinking about?" Alex smirked "My bosses partner is also Kiana. If that makes sense." Mei looked confused "How is that possible?" Alex shrugged "She came from another universe. My boss took a liking to her and she helps us with the project end problem by being our data person giving us information on the world's. Naturally I only see her once like most agents. However there are a select few that see her more than once." Mei then said "So how did she get to where your boss is?" Alex shrugged again. "Don't know, He never tells us. I just assumed that something terrible happened to her."

Mei and Alex got home to find Himeko drunk and theresa trying to pull Himeko to bed. Alex and mei had a laugh and help theresa put Himeko to bed. After Helping theresa Mei and Alex went back to Mei's room. The two got ready for bed and Mei said  "Today was nice. Don't you agree?" Alex smiled "Yeah, it's because I spent the whole day with you." Mei blushed and hopped in the bed instructing Alex to hop in as well. "What are we going to do tomorrow then?" Said Mei. Alex smiled "I heard that there was a nice trail just outside of town, wanna go check it out?" Mei kissed Alex and said "Ohh, sounds fun." The two then fell asleep.

Later that night Alex woke up to something he sensed. He got up and left Mei's room and went outside to find a note. "Come meet me at the entrance of the school. I need to give you something." Alex sighed and walked to the entrance. At the entrance he saw His boss and Kiana standing there. "Why did you bring me out here?" Alex said. Kiana sighed "I have found out that the man had an apprentice, to take over when he died. We must be careful project end is now a massive threat. I give you this" He handed Alex a small device "This will stop the conversion of Honkai energy to Project end energy." Alex looked at his boss "Ok, I'll take care of him." The two left and Alex went back to the dorm and to bed. "Alex? Are you awake?" Mei said Alex smiled "Yeah, I just needed some fresh air." Mei smiled "Alright, just making sure." Mei fell asleep again and Alex looked at her and said to himself "We have troubles, I want to help you, Mei I love you and I will make the problems go away, for good." He then fell asleep ready for their walk tomorrow.

Kiana, bronya and Fu Hua reached a small city and went to find a help desk or something to find out where they are and to receive some extraction to st freya. Kiana went and got some water for the three of them while fu Hua attemped to get radio contact with HQ. Bronya sat with the gear waiting for the other two to finish with their tasks. A few minutes later Fu Hua game back and said "HQ will bring a drone to take us back in an hour." Kiana handed Fu Hua a water bottle and said "We can finally go home, it's been a long two months" Fu Hua smiled and watched Kiana and drink her water. "Yeah it has." She said inching closer to Kiana.

The day was wet and Alex and Mei had to postpone the walk up the trail. They did however need to do some errands so they went out and did that. They walked from place to place. Mei looked worried, Alex noticed and said to mei "Are you ok, you seem distracted." mei sighed and said "I feel Like someone is following me." Alex looked around and said "Yeah, I know that feeling. I'll make sure that they don't do anything to you." Mei began to shake "Why me? Am I project end?" Alex was shocked "No, of course not. It might be because you're a herrscher?" Mei sighed "I know. I am  probably overreacting."

The two walked down a street still looking around for people who may be following. They both turned the corner and as they did they both were hit in the face knocking both of them out cold. The people who did it stood around the two and a couple grabbed some rope and tape. They tied Alex and Mei's hands and legs and then gagged them with the tape. "get them in the car." The leader said "I want to get them to the warehouse after we get all the stuff for her." The men threw the couple into the back of the car unaware of Himeko and Theresa watching them.
