I'm going with my normal statement. This movie was shot VERY well. I loved the place where they shot. It was scary yet beautiful at the same time. The movie started with a suspenseful moment with the attempted escape of the first governess of the little girl, Flora.

The movie is very suspenseful. I was constantly looking in behind the characters. Making guesses, getting surprised at all the new things it brought in. You will make assumptions the entire movie.

Infact I was writing questions in my notebook I take into the theaters to take my notes. Some was instantly answered and some weren't till later on.

This movie kept you on your toes threw the entire movie. Which is a great thing for a suspenseful horror movie, and with the fact it was rated PG-13, makes it better. I wonder how much better this movie would be if it was rated R.

Finn and his child co star Brooklyn played their roles to a T. They was both creepy and on point. Brooklyn, who plays the little girl Flora, was this adorable little girl who did have some creepy moments. She also has a sad history. She saw her parents die in the car accident in front of the mansion gates, which makes her terrified to leave the property.

Finn plays her older brother Miles. Miles is an unsettling kid. He was taken out of boarding school for almost killing another student. He just appears and tries to cause problems. I honestly wrote down that Miles is an asshole. He does seem to have love/hate feelings for our lead. Setting pranks and also kissing her cheek after appearing in her bed room at night.

Flora and Miles seem to be extremely close to each other. He's very protective of Flora and Flora looks up to him and does what ever he tells her to do.

The amount of jump scares in the movie was just the perfect amount. Like I said earlier, this movie was very suspenseful, and you aren't expecting the things that happen in the movie.

This movie's ending was a disappointment. It was highly confusing and abrupt. There was a lot of plot holes in the movie with questions left unanswered.

We don't know if the whole thing was in our leads mind, or if her escaping with the children even happened. So we don't know what is going on by the time the credits came on.

I literally sat there confused. I was tempted to watch it again just to figure it out. Which I might do I don't know.

The parents death's are mentioned a few times in the film but has NOTHING to do with the film at all. I would've thought for sure that maybe its their spirits haunting the place. Or that the creepy landkeeper Quint, who is suddenly a person in the movie, maybe killed them and is holding their spirits hostage. But its not answered.

Kate, our lead, has a mother who is in the loony bin, so we don't know if that maybe Kate is crazy as well and is imagining things?

Again a lot of questions about the plot isn't answered. You will be confused by the ending.

There is no favorite kills for this review. While we see one death, by the end of the movie we don't know if it actually happened or not.

Ratings

I am giving this movie a 3/5. I liked the suspenseful moments. The acting was spot on by our kid actors. But I wish the ending didn't happen the way it did, and all of our questions were answered. I can tell a lot will be disappointed. Some will like the movie. But just be prepared to be confused by the time you head to your car.
