"Hi, Doctor." I greeted.
"Hey, Chloe. Take a seat." I sat on the chair. "So I heard from Dan and Cal, that you had two blackouts in the span of two days. Plus you have a fever. Oh, yeah. Let me check the fever." I nodded and got near him. "You have a really high fever, Chloe. Did you wear your spectacles?"
Before I could even reply, Cal cut me off, "No. She wore them just today and that too I forced her to." I glared at him and went back to where I and Doc were. "No."
"Okay, so you should have worn them. Other than that, you should drink water. I am still not giving you any medicines but if I have to, I will. Now Cal, please go out, I have to talk to her." Cal nodded, stood up and went out.
"Chloe, your health is excellent and I don't think that you blacked out because of dehydration or spectacles. I think that you blacked out because of mental stress or something. So would you like to share it?"
"I am sorry, Doc. I don't really want to." I said not looking up.
"Okay, I do respect your privacy, Chloe. But you should talk, maybe you could talk to Evan. You know my so-"
"Son. I know. I met him yesterday." He nodded.
"Talk to him maybe or even better, have some coffee or whatever you teens like." I thought about it but then dismissed it.
"No, I am fi-"
"Nope, Chloe. When your father and mother were with me, they always used to say that if something happened to them, I should take care of you, Dan and Caleb. Dan is an adult now but you and Cal still are teens. So you go and I don't know maybe have a coffee with Evan. He is here today. I will tell him." And then he picked up his phone and called someone, presumably Evan.
He ended the call and turned back to me. "I will tell Cal. You go out, Evan is here and send Cal back." I nodded without opposing and opened the door.
Just when I was locking the door, I heard him say, "You shan't take much stress on yourself considering you're injured. It might not have good results." I nodded and sent Cal in. I watched him go and then I felt a tap on my shoulder.
"Hey, Chloe." I saw Evan standing there.
"Hi."
"So, shall we proceed, my lady?" I chuckled and then responded.
"Sure."
∞
He took me to a nearby cafe and we sat down on one of the tables.
"So want to talk about it?" He said.
I was about to respond when the waitress came, "I will be your waitress of the day. What may I help you with?" She said. She was a beautiful tall girl, just around Evan's age. Her black eyes matched with her hair and she had worn a white uniform which made her look even more beautiful. I saw her name tag. Scarlett Drew.
"Umm, I would get a cappuccino with less sugar and Evan?" But he was staring at Scarlett.
"Evan," I said in a higher tone. His eyes snapped towards me. I heard Scarlett chuckle.
"What would you take?"
"Oh, yeah, um, the usuals, Scarlett." After she went, I smirked at Evan.
"Looks like someone just couldn't stop staring at a certain someone." He blushed into a deep red colour.
"OH, your blush is scarlet. Matches by the way. Scarlet coloured boy likes Scarlett." I teased him.
"Oh shut up. It is not like that." He said. I just chuckled at him.
"So want to talk?" He said again.
I started to shake my head but he interrupted, "Oh, come on. Don't you trust me?"
"Okay fine but you tell me what is going on between you and a certain someone named Scarlett Drew."
"Okay fine. Yeah, I like her and I had for about half a year. And I have been coming here almost every other day to see her. God, you should hear her laugh. It is such a contagious one." I smiled at him.
"Oh, maybe I could set you guys up."
"We are not here to talk about me, Chloe. Now spill what happened because yesterday I saw you were looking fine but now, you are not."
"Um, so you know yesterday after I talked with you, Niles just got angry and started saying like I had fun with you and stuff like that. So then I just got angry and was shouting at him when he kissed me out of nowhere. And I just got angry. Cause like first he fights with me and then kisses me out of nowhere. And then I just screamed fuck off at his face and stormed inside the house. I cried but I had to talk to someone so I thought to call Bug. Cause sooner or later I was going to meet him. But when I saw him, I...I..." And one single lone tear left my eye. Evan stood up from his chair and brought it near me and hugged me. And I cried.
"It is fine, Chloe."
"No, it isn't, Evan. He knew that I was the person who he stargazes with but still he didn't tell me. And that is not what hurts me, the thing that hurts me more than anything is losing my friend and my best friend on the same day. And though they were the same person, it hurt."
"It is fine, Chloe. Everybody gets hurt. But the thing is that you should live your life like no one had ever hurt you because they say forgiveness lies above everything, right?"
"But, it hurt Evan." Just then a bell rang signalling someone entered. I was too busy to see who it was but Evan did and then he froze. I looked up at whatever he was seeing to find Niles.
Niles, Evan, Chloe.
It is just going to be a new mess in Chloe's life.
Anyway, as usual, I want you guys to hulk smash that star on the bottom.
Until then,
Nishi.
