"Nat that's enough food! Let Tyler have some!" My mum nagged at me whilst she saw my hand creeping to grab another piece of bread from the basket. I don't know what it is with her and the 'let the guests eat everything so we starve' idea that she makes us stick by whenever we have anybody round. For starters, Tyler was hardly a guest.
Tyler laughed next to me, "Don't worry Mrs Fern, Nat can have it."
Ah Tyler, I knew I could always count on you to save my poor stomach.I smirked and snatched another piece of bread.
My mum rolled her eyes at me, "You're such a child Nat, and Tyler please call me Anna, no need for formalities." She gushed at my boyfriend next to me.I heard my Dad pour himself another drink, "Sometimes I wonder how you cope with her Tyler, she's been a handful for the last 22 years." He muttered.
Yikes, and here I was thinking that I was the golden child."She's not too bad, she's lovely." His eyes met mine, he had his little nervous smile on his face. I felt his arm wrap around my back before he rested on my waist.
Tyler and I had been dating for 3 1/2 years now. We met back at college, our first encounter with one another was..interesting.
I punched him in the shoulder because he refused to apologise after he and his friends knocked into me in a corridor and trod all over my belongings. Somehow, I still wonder why to this day, I ended up falling for him and his rebellious boy ways.
Cliché, I know.
My mum loved him though. Almost as much as I did. Apparently he is 'very polite'.It took a while for my dad to warm up to him, he needed to know that Tyler had the capability to never let me come in harms way. In the end we came to the conclusion that I could probably defend myself better. Giving the fact that I was my dad's and Godfather's subject, as soon as I turned 4, of project 'give Natalia military training as you would a middle aged person'.
It's far to say that having an ex first sergeant for a dad couldn't be more tiring. My godfather started me off when I was 4 and he was the father figure in my life until the age of 6, when my dad retired from field work and made my training more intense.
My godfather left for New York though for a new job, I hadn't seen him since I was 16.
I had gotten my cocoa hair and azure eyes from my father whereas I had my mothers facial features.
I did look like her, except her face was more happy.
Her eyes a childlike green and her hair golden.
With my dad, we couldn't be more similar. With his attitude and fluency in sarcasm; I was for sure his daughter.Tyler had more of a dirty blonde type hair, as well as having a cute boy face. Of course, all the girls would go crazy over him in college.
It was scary how much one girl would do for him. One dyed her hair blonde over a rumour that he was only into blondes and another wore green contacts because he said that green was his favourite colour.
It was terrifying. We came round my parent's for the weekend. We did alternate visits at his family one week and then mine the next. I'm never complaining though.
"Well I will let you two have some 'you' time in a minute, after Natalia helps me in the kitchen. I've put your stuff in the spare bedroom, so make yourselves at home. Just not too comfortable, I'm too young to be a grandma yet!" My mum winked at me. Sometimes I wonder if my mother had a filter.
It was sad though how my old bedroom was now the spare bedroom.I felt Tyler blush and I rolled my eyes,
"Trust me if you think I'm going to honour your wishes of being a young grandma, think again," I muttered under my breath. I heard a choking sound across the other side of the table, I looked up to see my dad trying to stifle in a giggle.
