As soon as I got into the comfort of my car, I connected my phone to my cars bluetooth and rang Evan. He answered almost immediately.
'I'm assuming the meetings over?'
I rolled my eyes,"of course it's over."
'And did you get the job?'
I hesitated, "Nah my qualifications weren't good enough." I scoffed.
'Wait sh*t seriously?"
Seems like I've got to work on my humour.
I laughed, "Evan come on, with the ridiculous qualifications you gave me I was bound to get the job." Not that I particularly wanted the job but it is what it is, I guess.
'Thank the lord for that, are you heading by the office before you head home?'
I answered him with a simple yes before hanging up the line. My phone then began ringing again, and with my volume on the max, it vibrates throughout the whole car, "Damn Evan, I just spoke to you!"
'I'm really starting to feel like you don't want to speak to me.' I heard an unexpected voice on the other side. However an all too familiar voice.
"Crap D, sorry. Didn't realise it was you. Don't worry I do want to speak to you."
'It's fine,' he laughed, 'how was work?'
"Oh don't even get me started," I muttered, "I've been banished to undercover work." No need to remind me of my downgrade from agent to receptionist.
'sheesh really? Have your skills already began to slack? Don't tell me that toilet duty is next. Oh my god I can totally see you in overalls and with a plumber in your hand!' He cackled.
"Diego! Don't be an ass."
I heard a chocking coughing sound ok the other side of the line, 'sorry sorry Nat. What's the undercover job?'
Asshole.
I sighed at the though of it, "I'm working as a receptionist at AD Enterprises. I'm supposed to find and return a stolen heirloom of some prince of what not."
'Oh the diamond necklace, heard about that. I still find it odd how he wanted police to get involved rather than his own people, but hey what can we do?'
"Yeah...I suppose so."
'Well I'll leave you to it then chica. Speak to you soon.'
"Yeah bye." I said before the line hung up. Now thinking of it, the idea of the prince getting police involved was very odd. Eh, as he said, what can we do?
As soon as I got to the station, I headed in and filled out some paper work regarding the case. My team had all mostly headed home for the day so the office was pretty silent. I logged into my computer to respond to some emails only to find not many so I took up the opportunity to do some research.
I typed 'diamond necklace' into search, but much to my dismay only pictures of diamond necklaces showed up. Should have figured as much, I sighed and typed in 'the diamond necklace' which clearly was a much better understanding since multiple news alerts popped up.
I clicked on the first one which brought me to a news article from a couple weeks ago:
'The legendary diamond necklace rumoured to be back on the black market once again. Sources say that the Prince of Yemen was the last to posses the necklace before having it stolen off of him. Someone obviously came to claim it. The Prince has offered 200 million dollars for whoever returns it to him, that is though without anyone knowing what it looks like. People say whether the infamous GK was yet once again behind the stealing but we do not know.'
