I slump down onto the chair, letting my parents keep yelling at me. I'm only twenty, I just wanted a break from school. I should've known they would've reacted this way, I only asked for another month off. I really hate myself right now, maybe...I should've continue my studies..no! It was just a simple request, stop regretting your decision Y/N! I shake my head a bit, to knock me out of my senses, until I hear another yell but louder.
"Y/N! Are you even listening to us." I scroll my eyes up at them slowly, not wanting to respond..but having no choice to. Before saying a word, they start to yell at me again. "Y/N L/N, I had enough of this! I want you out of the house now!" I quickly jump up.
"Are you serious? Dad you're not actually--" He raises his hand at me, I brace for the slap, until I lose control of my body. I grab his hand and push him back. "I-I.." My mother runs to my father afraid.
"Leave..." I nod and quickly grab my bag by the door. As I walk out, I leave the door wide open. I walk down the sidewalk, not turning back. I finally feel free, but unsafe at the same time. At home, life wasn't perfect, I would get slapped for everything. Even if I wasn't doing anything wrong...I shake my head and hold onto the straps on my bag. I tighten my wrists as I walk, I then see the gas station.
I quickly turn hoping to see the regular cashier, as I approach I see a car messed up and all the doors are open. I take off my hood and stare at the empty gas station, I stop mid-tracks and notice that everything is dead silent. Before walking I look over at a gas pump, I strain my eyes and see something long and dark on the ground. I approach the object, noticing that it's a shotgun. I kneel and look at it, why would it be here?
I hear a grumbling sound, like an animal. I slowly turn around and see a person, I stand up and get a closer look. I wave and open my mouth to speak, until I notice it start running towards me. I trip backwards over the shot gun, I grunt and quickly pick it up.
"Stop! I will pull the trigger!" I watch it speed up more. "I said stop!" I then pull the trigger, feeling a thump against my chest from the impact. I close my eyes as I hear the bullet pierce the skull. I open my eyes, seeing the body fall, I quickly exhale..noticing that I was holding my breath. I stand up and lean over the body, seeing it already decayed. "What...the..fuck...?" I shake my head and start to go into the gas station.
"Shit.." I mumble under my breath, noticing how dark it is. I turn on the light, under the barrel of the gun. I look around and see a couple of protein bars, I grab a few and stuff them in my pockets. As I start walking, I hear footsteps, they were heavy and seemed to be dragging along the floor. I then see multiple feet, I scroll the gun higher to see more than I bargained for. I then turn around and run out, shutting the gas station door.
I look around and see a metal pipe, I shove it through the handle. After I inhale and exhale quickly, I never felt so anxious before. Before catching my breath, the decaying people bang onto the door, I fall back surprised. I get up, and slowly back away, holding onto the shotgun, like my life depended on it--no it actually did. I turn and see the car, it's crashed into the gas station. I walk up to it, and check the seats hoping I'll find a key. I close each door, until I reach the trunk.
I lift the damn thing, and see nothing but trash. I move the trash around, and see a single key. I pick it up. I examine it, and quickly shut the trunk, I sit in the driver's seat closing my eyes. I exhale and look at the single sliver key.
"Please work." I enter the key and turn the car on, I smirk and start to feel relieved. "Ha! Now then, let's leave this city." I quickly reverse and turn the car, I push the gas and watch the gas station pass my eyes.
