"Where are we going?" I ask, following after Amber.

"Let's see," says Amber while inspecting the map of the sanctuary. "We weren't assigned to any specific zone to go to and our task is pacifying the residents' distress. Going forth in that direction, we should place priority towards areas where troubles are likely to happen."

"Troubles?"

"Monsters with aggressive tendencies doesn't have the patience to stay still when they perceive threats within their territory. It's not likely the entire sanctuary is affected, but just in case, it's our job to maintain peaceful relations between the residents."

Keepers are very diligent in their work. The job's specification consists of being a veterinarian, zoologist and nutritionist. Now, a diplomat too. It's not as easygoing as it looks. My history of caring for a house cat is not comparable with what Amber is doing. She has my admiration.

"So, where to?" I ask again.

"The closest monster habitat that matches our requirement is here."

Amber points at the jungle zone then the map on her hand instantly zooms in, revealing detailed locations of all monster habitats in that area.

"It's a magic map," I say in amazement.

"There are monsters and magical beasts that migrate according to the season or climate changes. To accommodate their needs, the sanctuary constantly grows and the new information is instantly added into the map."

The map must be connected with a central network source. When I look closely, a magi formula is delicately embedded within the sanctuary's logo inscribed at the top of the map. The technique is similar to the magic pattern embroidered along the stitchings to produce the enchanted robe I have. It's an ancient technique the elves predecessors' created for protection whilst living in the forest that doesn't require applying too much mana. Presently, it's considered a specialised skill for the elves.

"It's been a big help getting around with the map, but it took me some time to get used to it when I first started working here. I often got lost and ended up someplace else."

Amber says as she closes the map.

We keep walking through the jungle, though it feels like we're mindlessly walking deeper without following a marker to determine our location. Well, 'Presence Detection' is constantly on alert if any surprises headed our way. Not like I'm expecting any. Dealing with a tainted monster and stopping a mob of agitated monsters is enough event for one day.

"Let's take a break after this, Iris."

I'm just about finishing up spreading 'Serenity' when Amber calls for a break. This is the fifth place we've gone to and it's the quietest too. Before this, every time we arrive at each monsters' habitat, either the strongest ones are on a defensive stance against intruders or they're on the verge of going berserk. Bane had to intervene multiple times before I could cast my magic and let Amber do her job. There's one resilient monster who couldn't shake his agitation and perceive me as an enemy and would've ram into me if Bane wasn't there to stop it. I silently complain that there's been no chance for me to one punch a single monster yet.
