Melody's Point Of View
We followed the three boys until we got to a path, where large carts pulled by huge, black horse looking creatures were waiting.
"What is that?" I questioned.
"Oh dear gods!" Annabeth exclaimed.
"Let's get on one of the carts, I'm sure they lead to the school." Nico said, walking toward an empty one.
We hopped onto the cart, and as it was just about to leave, we heard a small voice yell,
"Hey! Wait for me!"
A petite girl with fiery red her entered the cart, and sat down next to me. I instantly recognised her as Ginny Weasley, from the train station.
"Oh! Hello again!" She exclaimed when she saw our faces.
"Hi." I smiled.
"You made your way I see. Excited for the ceremony?" She questioned.
"Yes, very! I do hope we will end up in the same houses." I answered.
"Some of you might, but I doubt that you'll all end up in the same one." She looked at all of us strictly.
"Oh, OK." I whispered, looking away.
"What are those creatures called?" Nico asked, pointing to the horses that were pulling the carriage.
"What creatures?" Ginny asked, confused.
"The ones pulling the carriages." I say, pointing.
"I can't see anything pulling the carriages. There's never been anything there." She stared at the creature, apparently not seeing it.
"You know what, never mind." Annabeth said, shaking her head slightly at us, as if to say 'let's drop it'.
I nod slightly, and we ride to the castle in silence.
--
Soon we arrived at a huge, beautiful castle, and followed a crowd of people through a pair of doors and into a hallway. After walking for a bit, we were told to stay with the first years.
I looked at the group of eleven year olds. They all seemed rather uncomfortable, whether this was because they were new at the school, or the fact that there was a group of tall teenagers towering above them, I'd never know. I smiled politely, but the kids still seemed intimidated by us.
"Come, please." A tall, strict woman wearing an odd hat said. She had earlier introduced herself as Professor McGonagall, head of Gryffindor House.
"You will now enter the great hall to be sorted, as I explained earlier. Transfer students, you will be sorted last." She attempted to smile, but soon just turned around, and walked through a set of enormous doors.
The first thing I noticed was the roof, it looked like the night sky. The next thing I noticed were the four incredibly long tables filled with teens of most ages in black robes with different symbols according to their 'houses'.
"Hurry up, if you mind!" Professor McGonagall rushed us towards a stool with a hat placed on it.
She stepped up, and looked at the crowd of new students. She called every first year's name alphabetically, and they were sorted into their houses.
"Now for the transfer students, from America!" She stated.
I looked at the others, knowing that my last name, Bethell, was first in the alphabetical order.
"Bethell, Melody Joanne." Professor McGonagall said, looking at me.
I slowly sat down on the small stool, and the hat was placed on my head.
