Wraith POV

When Wraith opened his eyes, all he could see was white. He looked to his left and then to his right, but there was nothing there. But when he turned around, he saw a gray dragon watching him. Shock shot through him, and he almost stepped back before he recognized the dragon before him. But it couldn't be him; it was just a game. Or was it? Wraith thought. He stared at the dragon for a long moment before he decided to go with his instinct.

"Are you Ignitus?" Wraith asked hesitantly.

The dragon dipped his head. "I am."

Wraith began to get excited, but he couldn't get why. "Does this mean that the dragon realms...." Wraith couldn't finish the thought.

"Are real?" Ignitus finished. "Yes. Yes, they are."

Wraith couldn't help it. He let out a whoop.

Ignitus looked at him strangely. "Wraith," he asked carefully. "Are you alright?"

Wraith nodded. "Yeah I'm okay. It's just...." Wraith took a deep breath and tried again. "It's just that, for the longest time, all I could dream about was going to the dragon realms. But I guess you know all about that being the Chronicler and all."

Ignitus nodded. "Indeed."

Wraith grinned. He couldn't believe this was happening. Then his smile faded. "What a minute. Why am I here? You must have summoned me for a reason."

Ignitus nodded. "The dragon realms need your help. Now, I understand if you don't want to help but dragons need—"

"I'll help." Wraith cut in. "What do you need me to do?"

Ignitus stared at him. "I haven't even finished."

"Well," Wraith said thoughtfully. "I'm pretty sure you were about to say that people need my help. It would be wrong to say no and besides," he shrugged, "I don't have a home here anyway, so it's not like anyone will miss me. What do you need me to do?"

Ignitus stared at him for a long moment before saying, "Truly you are unique. Even Spyro wasn't this eager to help others."

Wraith shrugged. "Being forced to live on the streets for so long showed me that no one deserves a fate like that. I can't just stand by and know that I could have helped someone."

Ignitus nodded. "In that case I will keep this short. A new threat is rising, and Spyro and Cynder are going to need your help. I might be able to give you at least one power to help you on your journey. I also might be able to turn you into a dragon as well."

"No," Wraith said. "I don't want dragons to trust me just because I look like one of them. I have to earn their trust. But I would like a power if it's not too much to ask."

Ignitus nodded. "What do you want?"

Wraith thought for a moment before replying, "Could you give me the ability to manipulate shadows and to be able to travel through them?"

Ignitus nodded. "Yes. And I will give you the ability to become invisible whenever you are in shadows or in dim light."

Wraith grinned. "Thanks, Ignitus. I—"

"Don't thank me yet," Ignitus interrupted. "I will also give you added speed and reflexes."

Wraith stared, thunderstruck. "Ignitus, I don't know how to thank you."

Ignitus shook his head. "Thank me by saving this realm. Oh, and Wraith?"

"Yeah?"

"Try to avoid dragons until you meet the guardians."

Wraith nodded. "I will."

"Very well. Safe travels young one. Warfang is just a day's walk east from where you will arrive."
