The water ran down his scarred body, as he ran his hands through his long red hair, Heine turned the knob; cutting the source of water off. Being in this place made him feel a bit uneasy, all the humans that resided there, glared unforgivingly; as if he were the one that they were fighting against. In a way, he supposed they were, since he wasn't human himself; he could respect their resolve, foolish, but noble. He ruffled the towel through his hair, as he wandered back to the room that him and Illia were given. He entered, walking over to his bed grabbing a clean shirt for the day; he heard the door swing open, with Kat looking dazed at seeing Heine's scarred bare chest. Her face flashed a bright red,

"I'm sorry, the door was partly open! I didn't mean to just burst in so rudely." She said apologetically, looking down at her feet, he gave off a small smirk as he slipped on the rest of his clothing.

"It's alright, you missed the important parts." He said with a light chuckle, looking over at Kat as her face flashed a darker red from his reference.

"If you're looking for Illia, she is still asleep." He said as he grabbed a book, beginning to leave the room,

"Will she be waking up soon?" as she followed him out,

"She usually does sleep in quite late, but if you could allow her to do so for just a bit longer, I would appreciate it..." he asked Kat as he closed the door behind him, taking his leave.

Kat watched him walk away curiously, finding herself intrigued; wanting to follow him, which she did, all the way to the isolated corner of the building. She watched him lay out on the ground, with his face buried in his book; Heine glanced over at her, as she lurked at the doorway that lead back down into the bowels of the building,

"Are you here to keep an eye on me?" He asked as he looked back towards the words that filled the pages.

"No..." she trailed off as she walked a bit closer towards him, finding herself a seat near him. The silence between them was thick and a bit awkward, she sat there twirling her thumbs as she stared at him. Studying the cover of the old book that he read

"I just wanted to ask you a question, if that's alright?" she asked, as Heine continued to read away,

"Sure..." he said keeping his eyes engulfed in the pages,

"Why help a human?" she asked, giving a serious look to him as he slowly closed the book,

placing it to his side; he sat up to look up at her with a blank expression upon his face.

"I know, it's probably strange to see a demon hanging out with a human in the first place..." he trailed off.

Kat looked confused at his statement as she kept a watchful eye upon Heine,

"It is. I haven't had any good experiences from any demon. They kill and use us." Her tone was cold,

"You're right about that, and I will not try to convince you otherwise. The only good track record we have, is the one."

"However, I can only speak for myself that, I have no desire with the grand scheme of things."

"And what is it that the demons desire?"

"Power." He let out a light chuckle,

"Besides, living out a semi-normal life with my best friend is more fulfilling."

"What do you mean?" she let off a light smile from his comment.

"Illia always finds a way to get into some mess, and I get the chance to kill demons." Soft gaze that pierced her. Causing her to look to the ground from embarrassment,
