Chapter 38

Jungkook's P.O.V

I nodded to myself as I ended the communication between me and Chae...

Everything's not going as plan.. Hwenji.. She's dead and... It's all my fault! Everything's my fault.. If only.. If only--

“Ugh.. ” I flinched when I heard Y/n's groan on my shoulder. After the car crash I didn't let other people come near us and so I had to carry Y/n out of the scene

“Jungkook..” She whispered, “Y/n.. Are you alright--”

“Where's Hwenji?”

I shot silent and continued walking, “Jungkook!” She pushed me away from her, I accidentally let go and she fell on the ground but it was evident in her eyes that she doesn't care if it hurts, she wants to know Hwenji's whereabouts.

“Where is she? Where's the car? ”

“I left as soon as we hit the tree..” I couldn't look straight to her eyes. I know her past with Hwenji and I know I messed up big time by leaving Hwenji's body behind

She suddenly fell on the ground again “H-Hwenji.. You.. You left her! We left her there! I need to go ba--”

“There's no point in turning back now Y/n.. The ambulance is there to help her. What we need to do is keep walking forward--” she suddenly slapped me

“Hwenji might just be a regular person for you but not for me! We've been together longer than our friendship! I've had enough of this, Someone special for me died! I'm going back there” She wiped away her continuous tears and tried walking backwards but I gripped her wrist

“I may not know her more than you do but I know, We have the same goal and that is to keep you safe. Don't turn back Y/n, if you did, her sacrifice will nothing but something to mourn for the rest of your life.”

I heard her sniff and pulled away from my hands, “I'll go with you if you promised to stick with our original plan”

Hmm...

Flashback

While  Chae and Chua are distracted, Y/n called for me in her room. She said she wanted to talk about a plan

“What plan is it Y/n?”

“Chae and Chua are spies from one of Taehyung's enemy. So we have to play along with them and try to gain their trust so they can tell us their plan.. when we know enough, we'll go back to Taehyung and tell it to him”

I scratched my nape, “Y/n, you know he will kill me--”

“I promise you he won't. I will make sure he won't touch you anymore.. Do you trust me?” She stretched her hands. In just one shake, this promise is sealed.

I'm sorry Y/n..

I accepted it, “And everything will end. Right Y/n?” she happily nodded, “Everything will end”

End

Can I still play pretend? She has suffered enough.. and if anything, I want to end it for her... Even if it means doing eveeything to make it stop

“Yes. I will stick to the original plan.. Y/n can you turn around?”

She looks suspicious at first but she turned around. I took off my belt and tied both her wrist together

“What the?!”

I lift her up and placed her back on my shoulder and continued walking straight. Back to where we stayed before

“Jungkook!! Untie me!!” She tried getting out of my grip, “Jungkook!”

I took a deep breath and placed her down. I tear the end of my shirt apart and used it to cover her mouth. I lift her up again, “Don't worry. Like you said.. everything will end. I'm just helping you prove your point”
She wiggled but it didn't worked

I looked up when I saw Chae and Chua running towards me with their bloody hands, “There you two are! Where's Ms. Hwenji?” Chae asked

“We didn't managed to get her back to the house on time.. so she died” I can't let them know it's our fault or else they'll give us to him

“S-She died?!” - Chae

I nodded, “She bled out.” Y/n continued wiggling and muttered unclear words through the cloth, “Ugh, you finally covered that girl's mouth. It started annoying me. Let's go back to the house”

And Chua acts like no one even died

We went back to the house. I plop Y/n down on the couch, she glared at me, “Are you going to keep her mouth sealed forever?” Chua suddenly took off her shirt, I look away

“N-No.. She still has her own life and I won't take that away from her.. but just this once, I will take control of her. For the greater good” I gaze at her. She's really really mad that her face started going red

“H-Hwenji's dead..” We heard Chae gulped as she tiredly sat beside Y/n. Y/n's eyes suddenly started tearing up

No matter how tough you look, if you lost someone you care about, that's useless anymore.

“Chill, There's nothing special about her” -Chua

“Chua! You should've known better!” - Chae

“What? Don't tell me you're sulking her over our best friend who is probably now getting tortured by that girl's damn fiancé!” -Chua

I remained quiet while Y/n was drowning through her sobs. Chae stood up, “Juu is strong, I know that but Hwenji.. Chua she's a human too! She knew this is a do or die situation and she still chose to get her hands dirty! ”

“You got attached to her? Chae remember, she's nowhere near your level. She doesn't deserve to mourn at and what if she sacrificed herself? What's new? We've done much worse and yet no one cried for us.” Chua walked away

Chae sighed deeply and looked at me. I gave her a nod and she slowly removed the cloth on Y/n's mouth

Her sobs went louder.

“Y/n.. I'm sorry for your loss..”

She defended Hwenji? That's.. something... But I still felt thankful

“But Y/n.. We're still continuing our plan..” -Chae

Right..

“Chae.. Tell me.. Taehyung's your next target right?” She asked

All eyes on Chae. She looks hesitant before answering, “Yes. He's our last target”
