6 Years Later

"Can you come give me a hand babe?" I heard Dylan yell from the room over. I finished a lap on my treadmill and called it good... for now.

"What's up?" I asked him, walking in to find Carter playing with one of his toy cars and Dylan struggling to get our baby girl, Poppy, into her birthday outfit. She was one today.

"Mommy I want an airplane next!" Carter chirped, his only focus on the car.

"One airplane added to the grocery list," I chuckled. Dylan and I honestly couldn't resist spoiling him.

"Here, it's backwards," I smiled and sat next to Dylan on the light pink couch. I adjusted her fuzzy onesie so it was on right, zipping up the front and kissing her soft little head before handing her back to Dylan, giving him a kiss as well.

Then I went back to our room and continued running on the treadmill.

I owed it a lot, because I'd had two babies but I sure didn't look like it. Soon Dylan came in, Carter holding onto his finger and Poppy in his right arm, babbling as she saw me.

Then he sat her in her mobile chair and her little legs pushed it to wheel her around the room while Carter tugged at our sheets, trying to get up on our bed before Dylan lifted him.

Then he turned on the tv and put on Carter's favorite cartoon before making his way over to me and the treadmill.

"I love watching you bounce around on this thing," he smirked and I smacked his shoulder playfully.

"Is Carter's stuff packed up for training?" I asked. Dylan nodded with his eyes closed, like I should have already known the answer.

Every day for two or three hours Dylan took Carter out to the forest to train him. He taught him combat, strength and conditioning, leadership, and overall how to be as good of an Alpha as his father.

I knew it was paying off. Carter already acted like a mini-Dylan. Now he was growing into his shoes, and my baby boy wasn't really a baby anymore. Carter hadn't shifted yet, he wouldn't until he was 18, but he still loved being outside.

Sometimes I would even catch him chasing rabbits or squirrels.

As per usual, they got back sweaty and covered in dirt. Poppy's nose crinkled when Dylan came to greet us.

"How was it, honey?" I smiled at Carter.

"Daddy taught me where the jugular is, and we ran five kajillion miles." he walked over to pet Poppy's hair.

I scowled at Dylan, and he gave me a guilty smile.

"It wasn't exactly five kajillion, bud." He patted Carter on the back before taking him to Caroline to get cleaned up, while I put Poppy down for her nap.

Then Dylan came back, taking off his dirty clothes and heading to the bathroom. I followed him and shut the bathroom door while his back was turned, starting the shower.

He definitely smelled strong, but my wolf couldn't be bothered in the slightest by his scent. In fact, she kind of liked it.

"The jugular?" I asked, prompting him to turn around. His body was bare, skin like honey and sparkling eyes staring into my subconscious.

"Yes, little mate. A deep vein in the neck that can become fatal when severed?" he grabbed a towel and hung it on the shower handle.

"I know what it is, Dylan." I rolled my eyes.

"You know I don't want you teaching him that stuff until he's older. He's six, babe." I crossed my arms and his eyes roamed down to my chest. Then he closed his eyes and took a calm breath.

"I just want to make sure that if god forbid something happens to us, he can look after himself and Poppy." His expression was soft.

"I know you want to prepare for the worst because of what happened to your parents. But I promise you, we're gonna be here for a long time. We're not going anywhere." I leaned up close to him and kissed his cheek, his arms wrapping around me tighter than usual.

"He doesn't need to know how to kill anyone until he's twelve, no compromise." I shrugged and he chuckled, nodding slightly.

"I can wash you off," I bit my lip and he couldn't resist touching my cheek.

"Not with all those clothes on you can't." he smirked.

I giggled and pushed him towards the shower before I took off my leggings and shirt, followed by my underwear.

Then I opened the shower door and.... well, you've been reading this book long enough to know what happened in there.

I thanked the moon goddess for making me his soulmate every day. I was a human when we met, and he was an Alpha, but she saw something in me that nobody else did. She knew I'd be able to handle it, and with that she ensured me a lifetime of happiness.

It had been a long journey to get where we were today, but every second was worth it; I wouldn't take back a thing. I didn't know what would happen next, but it didn't really seem to matter anymore.

Because Dylan and I had a second generation.
