(Y/N) POV

You work for Mann Co., in the RED base.
Being the only female mercenary living in the base has it's perks- having private shower sections, excuses to not attend the battle for a week each month, plus, you have 9 men to look after you.

9 very attractive men.

You work as another Scout in the base, although your speed might not catch up with the Jeremy, your speed were still capable of capturing the points faster than the other mercenaries.

You admire Jeremy, heck, or even hell in love with the guy. Maybe it's his bombastic personality that got you hooked, or maybe it's those egotistical tales he tells you after every battle: either way, you fell in love with the Bostonian.

You two were almost inseparable: always sticking together no matter where you to are- battlefield or not. Heck, even the mercs thought you two were together!

He would tell you jokes and stories, he would also rant about his life and problem to you, and you would listen to them all: and vise versa. It was no doubt that you two trusted each other deeply.

You'll be there wherever he is. You were happy whenever you're with him.

However, that was before that one particular day.

Your leg bounced as you anxiously waited for Jeremy to return from his mission. " Spy," you called out to the smoking Frenchman, " what time does your watch say?" He looked down on his watch, " This isn't a watch." " Ah," you tapped your chin, signaling you're in thoughts. " Then do you know the time?" He shook his hand, " Sorry mon ami."

So only after, you followed Spy to where the men were gathering, they seemed to be discussing something serious. You walked towards Scout and greeted him with a small 'hey', " What are you two eggheads working on?" He asked, Engineer and Medic looked at each other before looking back at him, ignoring the set of keys thrown towards them. His brows drew together, " Nice catch," you snorted a small laugh, but seeing the serious expression on the Medic, you quickly shut your mouth to muffle the laugh.
" Yeah, listen. We've been running some experiments on the teleporters. And y'all want to take a look at this," he said, reaching for the controller that was sitting nearly on the wooden table. As he pushed down the red button, a familiar whirring noice was produced, slinky after followed by a loaf of bread appearing on the teleported.

" Wow, you can teleport bread now. That is big news," he said sarcastically, you chuckled again, earning a wink from your fellow Scout. Your face turned red.
" Look, is Demi back with the beer yet? I-" As Scout was near to finish his sentence, he let out a manly scream.

Gasps are auditable from multiple men, and yourself.

As Medic picked up the bread, he tore it apart, revealing some green egg-like substances scattered across the surface of the bread.
" Medic! What on Earth are those?!" You screamed, latching yourself on Jeremy's arm, something he was used too. He looked at the bread, then looked back at us. With a small smile, " Tumors!"

" Ya all knows what this means right?"

After the little meeting about the tumors and all those stuff, you went back to your room, with the piece of paper in hand. 70 hours, it seemed so little. Yet, you have so much you want to do!
You stared at the paper blankly: what WILL you do? Perhaps visiting your family for the last time? Or go enjoy yourself in an amusement park? Or even just spend all the hours just to catch up with the series and movies you were dying to watch, but never got the time to? Your eyes landed on the baseball bat that has been sitting in the corner of your room, reminding you of that time he took you to see a baseball game.
A smile crept onto your face as you remembered how excited he was whenever his favorite baseball team hit a home-run. He was so happy. You, too, were happy.
Hm....
Got it!
You're just going to find help from the Frenchman in the team! He's experienced in romance, right? So he can probably help you to go on a date with Jeremy!
Eyes sparkling in determination, you mustered up all your courage to give Spy a little visit.

Walking through the seemingly endless hallway, you finally reached Spy's smoking room.  You looked down to your right/left (for the Author have zero clue which arm you wear your watch, author decided to write both, the author usually does it on the right) wrist, only to read 58 hours left on the death watch. You took in a deep breath and exhaled.  You were nervous. You raised your arm, ready to inform Spy of your presence.
Suddenly, you heard a very familiar voice inside.
" So, I did write down the last wish," He said from the other side.
You pressed your ear against the door, hoping to hear more of the conversation. And secretly hoping that his wish somehow relates to you.
" I- I'd like to go on a date with-"
Happiness rose inside of you as he said those words, h-he wanted to go on a date with me? Heat started to travel to your cheek as you listened to the muffled conversation.

" -Miss Pauling."

Your heart sank, knowing you were no match to the intelligent Miss Pauling. You have lost, you were the loser in game you didn't know you were playing. He chose her.
This is it. You finally know you were just a friend and partner he can count on in battles, nothing more, and nothing less.
Of course, how can I be compared to her? She's everything that I don't have.
Beads of tears rolled off your cheek as you heard as words. Your heart ached, for he could not return the feeling you have for him for the last 2 years.

You have lost.

The paper slowly fell onto the floor slowly, and gracefully. A sarcastic laugh as you watched the paper fell. Funny, isn't it?

Tears kept flowing down as you reach your room, before throwing yourself on the bed, heartbroken. You cried and cried, until there were no tears to be shed. The soft hiccups and whimpers had became your lullaby. You hugged your pillow close, before falling asleep.

For you have lost.

You were the loser in the game of love.
