In memories of Rick May - VA of Soldier

Reader's POV.

Ah yes, Monday. How much you hate it.

You and your teammates were standing in the respawn, waiting for the commence of the battle. You gripped your weapon close, determination were seen in your eyes.

You are ready.

You looked at your weapon, and a smile found it's way onto your face.
You remembered how on the first day you stepped in, shy and worried. You were almost intimated by the strengths, sizes and the intelligence of your new colleagues. And how worried as you participated on your first ever battle working in TEAM (RED/BLU) as a (Class), you barely get to know how to use your weapon, but was still pushed out of the spawn and into the battleground.

You barely got any kills back then. You got killed over and over again, and sent to respawn multiple times. You were almost disgusted by the limps and corpses when someone got hit by a rocket or got in the crossfire of the firing of mini gun.
And then, you got to know more about your weapon, and how to use it from your fellow colleagues. It was difficult, yes, but you kept on practicing. And then, you finally got the very first kill of your own, without any assists from your teammates. You can still remember how proud everyone were of you, and giving you a thumbs up on the battlefield, they even managed to throw a party for you after the battle!

You chuckled. Tossing your weapons into the air, before it landed on your hand again. The touch was so familiar from the battles and trainings you've been through. It was like it was apart of you, it is a part of what you are as a person.

" What's so funny girlie?" Scout asked, to which you shook your head with a smile plastered on your face. " Nothin', just, remembering things," he looked at you with an interested look, before getting into position and taking a can of Bonk! with him.

It is the Firth Anniversary of you working as a TEAM (RED/BLU) mercenary, you know it is nothing but a rookie number to your fellow colleagues, but you were still proud of yourself for coming so far.

You turned your head and looked at the colleagues who you'd call your family. Sure, Scout might be loud and annoying at times, or how Pyro is...just Pyro, not to mention Medic's mad Doctor persona! They might be weird, but they were someone you would call a family, someone who would be there for one another.
Your gaze fixed on the solider, oh how much you adore him! He's one loyal man, loyal to his beloved country. He had told you tales of his great achievements in the period of WWII, they would often leave you with amazements and respect. You knew that those tales would easily be made up or exaggerated, but unlike Scout and his tales, judging from his personality, they were most likely to be nothing but truths.

" The mission begins in 10 seconds!" The Administrator announced through the speaker installed on the walls.
" Hey Solly," you called Soldier, " Good luck!" He stared at you, before giving it a nod, a blush visible on his cheeks.

" Fight!"
And so the battle begun.

You and your teammates had put up a thought fight with the (REDS/BLUS), a very tough call indeed. Yet, thanks to Soldier saving you in the last second on the final point, you and Soldier had won the battle against the enemy.
Despite the victory, you and your team were pretty beaten up, and headed to the infirmary immediately. Thanks to Medic and his amazing skills when it comes to the medical field, you and your team were patched up pretty nicely.

It was Soldier's turn after Heavy, who's injury was so bad that he could've died then and there.
Since your injuries were not as bad as your fellow teammates, you were one of the last ones to get your wounds tended.

You felt a gentle poke at your shoulder, only to find the American you had fell in love with for the past 5 years. " Hey Solly, how's your wounds?" You asked, rubbing your eyes gently, " Good," he mumbled, taking a seat next to you. You looked around, to see the Engineer, Sniper, Spy and Scout on the benches, waiting for their turn.
It will definitely take a while.

" Hey Solly," you turned towards the American, " Thanks for saving me, it was awesome. Like ya," you confessed, well, not entirely, not the last part anyway. " Thanks cupcake," he mumbled, before taking off his helmet and laid his head on your shoulder, his buzz cut tickling your neck. ' He must be tired from the battle," you reckoned.
You held his lands, which are larger than yours, and gently caressed his. You heard a little grunting from your American, and chuckled. " You're the best, ya know?" You whispered, before laying your head on top of his, and closed your eyes and fell asleep.
