(Y/N) POV
" Yes sir...yes...uh-huh, ye- no...no sir, the ba- sir? I-I can't hear you! Sir? Sir!"
You tapped your chin as thoughts ran through your head, " He could be anywhere for goodness sake! What if he's in danger?" Pau clicked his tongue, before resting a hand on your shoulder. " He'll be fine," he said, reassuringly, " Boss is a strong man, I'm sure he can take care of himself."
You sighed, mumbling a soft 'thank you' to your colleagues as Pau retracted his hand. You and Pau watched as the man frequently pressed the handset against his ears as his voice kept increasing in volume, presumably the Boss cannot hear him, and vice versa.
Patryk drew back the handset that was pressed against his ear and slowly set it back on the retriever. Pau raised an eyebrow, to which Patryk slowly shook his head- he, too, was unsure of the Boss's whereabout. It has been a few days since your Boss has not been present in the base, without any notes nor messages left behind (as he would leave some sort of message behind for you and your colleagues to know his whereabouts), you and your colleagues could only assume that he went missing.
Pau placed a cigarette between his fingers and with a 'click', he lit it up before placing it between his lips and puff out a cloud of smokes. " It is odd that he didn't tell us beforehand nor left a message of where he will be," he pointed out, you and Patryk nodded. " Perhaps, it was something personal that he did not want to share? It would explain the lack of communications on his mission," Patryk suggested, to which the three of you agreed.
" You are worrying too much!" Patryk petted your head, ruffling your hair in the process, " You tend to worry too much! Every time when he goes on a solo mission, you seem to panic over his safety! He always comes back in fine conditions, I reckon he would too." You sighed in defeat, " You're right, I worrying too much over nothing. Maybe you're right, he will be fine."
He has to be.
- time skip-You hurried back to your headquarters after the small meeting with Pat and Pau. With a quick removal of your boots, you threw yourself on the bed, landing with a soft thud. You stared at the white ceiling blankly for god-who-knows-how-long, it felt like hours, you reckoned as your head swarmed in thoughts. As thoughts raced through your mind, you recalled the first day you arrived at this base.
You were promoted to the Red Army by your couches for showing great effort put in training. " It would be a great waste of your talent if you don't join the army, soldier." You remember they said in your graduation, which you held onto dearly.
You stepped in the base with sparks in your eyes, you made a promise with yourself that you will do your best, you will make not just your couch, but your family proud.
And you did, you always put in such dedication into your work, that the commander of the army had sparked interest on you. And one day, he raised your status- asking you to assist and handle some minor works alongside with his other two left-hand men. And since then, you too, had became his left-hand man (or rather, woman depending on your gender). As time went on, some sort of feeling had made their way into your heart- was it love? Admiration? You wished it would go away, as it is highly unprofessional of you, hence, you buried those feelings deep down. But as time went on, those feelings that were left in the far corner of your heart and brain did not fade, however, it only got stronger- nagging you at the back of your mind, never forgotten, and never fading.
You dare not to tell anyone, as this would not only make you look like an utter fool, this might also ruin your reputation if this little secret managed to slip into the ears of your Boss. Your colleagues, however, are a different story; your colleagues of five years managed to get ahold of your little secret- perhaps through close observation- they laughed it off and told you not to fret to your relief, they told you the personalities and interests of the Boss to you, offering their help to you. You were really grateful.A series of knocking had interrupted your train of thoughts and brought you back to the present. " Come in!" You yelled, while propping yourself up with your elbow from behind your back. The door swung opened, revealing the two of your colleagues- with their chests rising up and down and huffing, you reckoned that they must have rushed here. You propped yourself to a better sitting position before drawing your brows together, and giving them a puzzled look.
They looked at each other before Patryk opened his mouth to speak. You eyes widened, jaws dropped at what he said.
" (Y/N), Boss just called and...I think he is in trouble."
To be continued...

A/N
Hooooly Heck, that was something ain't it? We have officially started the rewriting of most or all of the chapters that I have published, as I realized what I wrote months before weren't as what I assumed is good quality as it was. Hence, the decision to put the chapters under construction. I was cringing at the old chapters such as this as I read them, goodness! If you wish to read the past version of this chapter, feel free to comment down and I might publish them or private messaging them to the individuals. As always, stay fabulous!
(Ps. I have a few ideas for some TF2 one-shots as I am absolutely addicted to the game, even though the game right now is not at its formal glory. But, it's still an enjoyable game I could play :) )
