You could only imagine what happened next. I've never seen the whole room shake tremendously. Is there an earthquake?
Vincent was quiet but I could tell his eyes were ready to kill, well apart from the devilish aura, his eyes are glowing bright turning into bloody crimson. But before everything could escalate I continued to my story.
"Welter was looking for me, and I purposely avoided him. So I hid from him at the same time ventured the palace..." Leaving the part where I plan to escape. "I stumbled upon a dark hallway, I was too caught up from the fact that Welter might find me so I proceeded to the dark halls and found myself in a very dark room. The place smelt horrible and I thought I was hearing things. But I wasn't. A man grabbed me asking for my help. In fright I panicked and then I heard two more voices. I hid behind the huge barrels and waited. The room was finally lit. And I saw... I... I..."
My breathing started to feel heavy. Suddenly it's hard to breathe.
"Breath Stephen." He said with concern on his eyes.
"I... I... I don't want to talk about what happened." I said with tears on my eyes. I can't stop my hands from trembling.
Luckily he didn't insist on telling him the whole story. I nodded in agreement, although his expression shows great concern and irritation.
Is he mad at me?
Does he hate me now?
The situation didn't help when I started hiccuping from my tears. I feel pathetic getting too emotional from this. I scurried close to me when I did so and wiped my tears as he asks what was wrong.
"Y...you... you..." I struggle to form the words.
His face started to frown and that was it. That was the last push to get me to break down.
"Wahhhhhhhhhhh!!!" I cried like a baby. I didn't stop even he was cooing me to help me calm me down. But it was too late. When I get to this stage there's no stopping me.
"Stephen, what's wrong. Tell me so I could make you feel good. Do you want food? Dessert? Some fruits? Or maybe books?" He frantically has given me choices that somehow he knows that I've taken an interest. However, the tears won't stop.
He pulled me close to his chest and wiped my tears away. He cupped my wet cheeks and asks me one more time with the gentlest voice he could ever muster.
"Tell me, love, what is bothering you?"
His scent made me calm, but most importantly he called me love?
"Y-you don't hate me?" I asked stuttering.
He gave me a shocked look and shake his head.
"Why would you think of such a thing?" He said once again brushing my cheeks.
"Y-you (hiccuped) l-looked irritated... w-when I couldn't tell you what happened. I thought you h-hated me... you (hiccuped) you even frowned." I said pausing every hiccup.
His eyes have never been wide. He looked dumbfounded.
"No... No... I am irritated-"
"Because of me?" I said cutting him off as I started to cry again.
"No! No... I simply got irritated because I wasn't there to protect you. I was mad at myself... for... not being there when you needed me the most." He said shoulders slumping in disappointment.
"B-but you did protect me..." I said as I sniff my now clogged nose. "Your mark protected me from those torturers-" Realizing what I said I clasp my mouth shut and locked eyes with him.
"You were in the torture room!" I flinch from his sudden voice and jumped away from Vincent.
He looked guilty after that. He cleared his throat and avoided eye contact. It seems everything is interesting but my face right now.
"I... I'm sorry. I...did..nt....mean to....raise my voice." He said lowering his head in shame. I stayed quiet didn't know what to say. The tension grows as time goes by without an outspoken word coming from us.
"I recall you saying about the mark." He said breaking the tension between us.
I nod my head in reply.
"I... they were about to do something... something bad... but when they started undressing me-"
I was suddenly interrupted by his terrifying growl that made me flinch from my seat. His eyes were now once again crimson, however, each time I see those red bloody eyes I could easily see myself getting used to it. I once thought these were the eyes of a monster, but now... I only see perturbed complexion from his expression.
He cleared his throat once again and said;
"Carry on." For a moment there I thought I saw him blush when I slightly smile from his odd behavior.
"When they started undressing me... they halted from their actions. I found it uncanny when their expression changes from salacity to pure horror. They feared something. One called out and said that I bare your mark. They release their grasp from me and started arguing with each other. I took that time to escape as they were too busy from trepidation.
I hurried back to the dark hallway and ran as fast as my two legs could carry me. Then I just randomly open a door that unexpectedly leads to you." I said ending my story with worry. I would not know how he would react to this.
"I see." was his only reply. "You must be exhausted. You should rest more."
He tucked me into bed. His actions were considerate, he was being gentle. An action to which never exist from the first day we've met.
Here I thought he would leave immediately after I settle to get some sleep, he leans close to my face and with a swift motion, his lips were now on my forehead giving me a light peck of his cold lips and a blush on my cheeks. He left after saying goodnight. He was a bit in a hurry when he left, but before he could leave I grab his hand and stopped from his track.
"Is there a problem?" He said with a hint of concern on his tone.
"Your eyes... why is it red again?"
"It's a natural reaction for vampires when someone dear to us is harmed. Rest now. I will return shortly." He said this time kissing my hands instead. I blush from his sudden attachment to me. I nodded in reply to embarrass to utter a word.
...
On the other side of the door awaits Welter. He stood there waiting for his master to come out from their room. Hearing Stephen's confession it was only clear what his master would command him next.
When Vincent came out from the door and closed it. He could no longer contain his rage and gradually let his blood lust known to the whole kingdom. The whole kingdom that was once in deep slumber is now awakened by his rath.
Welter could barely stand on his two feet. His strength suddenly dispersing and his legs wobble helplessly. He knees on the floor enabling to keep himself erected.
"Bring them to the East Manor." He said to Welter. Welter struggles to get up but still manages to. He left his master's side and went to the torture room. There he saw a pair of vampires on their knees shaking tremendously.
"The King asks for your presence."
