"Make yourself comfortable! Sit down!" The great mage, full of energy, escorted the two to the drawing room offering herbal teas and baked cookies to which they gladly accepted.
"Today is a blessed day... Your kind have lived and your bloodline shall continue! Flourishing and multiplying!"
"What do you mean?" Stephen asked as he munches on those delicious cookies.
"You'll find out soon little one." The great sage exclaimed knowing a fact that others have not.
"I cannot wait to see a splended future where our old homes are finally coming back together." The great mage exclaimed as he grabs and pour himself a cup of tea.
"If you don't mind us asking... What happened... To us... To our kind? Why is it that there's only two of us left." Asked Stephen who was sitting beside Seth whose cheeks are already comparable to a chipmunk.
The mage went silent.
It took a while before he suddenly stood up and went to the closest bookshelf and reached out on the red book embellish with golden pattern.
"It's a hard story to tell... But I believe you deserve to know."
He opened the book and began telling them their history.
"Long ago the goddess of the moon created a children of her own. She wanted her children to be the barer of peace, healer of the injured, and protector of all living things.
With that she made the first moon children out of her own hair, blood, and tears. They serve the world and has contributed greatly on the balance of nature. Specially when other species began to covet the forests claiming it as their territory.
One day a traveling merchant who was injured by thieves was found by one of the moon children. They took him in, nurse him back to health. When the merchant regained his strength back, instead of thanking them for saving his life. He got too greedy.
He has found out the regeneration and healing abilities of the moon people, he wanted to sell them to slavery. After leaving the forest he orchestrated a plan. He wanted to kidnap them and sold them to the black market. They could be excellent sex slaves as they possess exotic beauty.
But for these to work, he needed to spread a rumour. A rumour that would raise attention to those who have power.
He spread the rumours about their healing abilities and their power to bring back life itself. This intrigued many nobles and other merchants. Unfortunately, this has also sealed your ancestors fate.
Moon children were few in numbers to begin with, and by the time they were being captured and forced to be sold, only few had manage to run away and hid from the rest of the world. Their disappearance had greatly impacted the environment. Trees began to rot, waters were turning black, and animals were morphing into vile and dangerous creatures.
When the captured moon children were declining, they started experimenting. They wanted more. They demanded more. The rumours were more than bickering nonsense. They were all true. They can heal any sickness, and they can revive a dead person. With this their values have increased and the merchant grew richer everyday.
They tried to forcefully impregnate and copulate the moon children, but to no avail. Little did they know, that they can only reproduce with their mates alone. And many moon children lost their mates during the apocalyptic times of slavery.
Until the last captured moon children died they had began their search again. They trampled and destroyed all forest and terrains just to find the remaining escapees. It took them centuries... Until they were finally discovered.
But the moon children were somehow prepared for that certain day to come. Their resolution was final, and that is to die together as family. When their homes were searched and burned to the ground, they gathered together and cited their last prayer. And just when their location were found they had already beginning to return back to their creator in sparkle of dust ascending above.
We thought that was the end of your kind. By then most forest were unhabitable. Other species were force to move out of their territory, and many creatures lost their lives as well.
Little did I know... You two were still alive and well. And that is you story. I have given up hope in saving this world. And this huge guilt that I carry... I try to lesssen it by maintaining this forest."
"Why didn't you do anything? You're the great mage... You could have protected them like what you are doing now." Seth said after swallowing the last cookie.
"Oh little one... I was merely an apprentice back then. The great mage during those times was my master, who unfortunately, was greedy for power and was one of the people who extorted your kind. I did my best to hide the remainder of your kind, but when he found out I knew where to find them. They have used all sorts of torture. I remained silent. Until they forced my mind open revealing their location." The great mage solemnly said as he lowered his head in guilt of what he could have prevented in the past, if only he trusted no one.
"It's not your fault." Seth and Stephen stated in unison.
"You are too humble for this old mage, little once..."
He closed the book and proceeded to return to its original place. Harboring dust once again.
"What happened to the merchant?" Asked Stephen.
"The moon goddess cursed him to damnation. Only she knows where that vile man is."
The mage could not hide the remorse he felt while saying those words. As the merchant in question, was one of his old friends who, out of all people, did not expect to betray him.
"Well, enough with the past. Let us now concentrate on the future. It is now my duty to help you control your powers. If we leave it as it is you will eventually explode."
"EXPLODE!?" Shouted Seth.
"Yes yes... That white light you both mentioned is already signs that you are in danger. If you can't control it you will explode." The mage casually exited the room as he laughed along the way, finding the whole situation funny.
"Stephen I don't want to explode. I still want to be with Erik." Seth said as he looked adorably miserable as twats threatening to fall while holding on to the little fabric of his clothes.
"Don't worry Seth... We'll be fine. With the great mage's guidance, we'll be fine." Stephen calming Seth.
As they were embracing each other's comfort, the two couldn't help but wonder what their mates are doing now.
