Chapter Thirty: Into the battle

Hwanwoong POV

The first thing that Hwanwoong hears in the morning is the twins arguing with their dad. "Wait, since when are the twins here?", Hwanwoong asks the others. "Since they arrived here in the middle of the night.", Ravn answers. The twins walk over to the group and sit down. "Everything okay?", Geonhak asks. "Yeah... he's just mad because we didn't stay at home.", Dongju replies. "How did you even get here?", Hwanwoong asks. "Gina from the small farmers inn helped us and two of her vampire friends. They want to help out too but because vampires are really slow during daytime and travel faster at night, they wanted to go here on their own and took us with them.", Dongju explains. "We saw your traces, shouldn't you have arrived before us?", Seoho asks. "Dongju and me had a fight. He ran away and got caught by a tribe. We had to free him that's why we took longer.", Dongmyeong says.
They eat then the king explains his plan to the army.
"We are going to split up. The nothern army is going to attack the right gate, the elves and dwarves the left gate and the rest is going to stay in the middle. The city is divided in six districts. Once five of them are under our control a smaller group is trying to defeat Esmeralda, the leader of the assassins guild. I will discuss the details with this group now and then the attack will start.", he says.
The king walks over to Hwanwoong and the others. "You guys are also part of the group.", the king says. "Me and brother too?", Dongju interrupts his father. "Are you going to listen to me if I ask you to stay with the army?", the king asks. "Nope.", the twins answer at the same time. "That's what I thought. Follow me please."
They follow the king to group of people who are waiting for them. They are the best fighters of the kings army and Muryms army and Mira, the kings wizard. The king starts telling them his plan.
"We are going to sneak into the castle otherwise Esmeralda will know that we are coming and could run away. When we are in the castle we are going to stay together until we reach the throne room. Mira, Seoho, his friends and me are going to enter it. The rest stays outside to make sure that there is no reinforcement coming that could stab us in the back.", the king explains. The soldiers nod. "Get ready now. We will leave in five minutes.", he says.

The army splits up into the three groups and walks towards the gates.
Once the center group reaches the gate, the wizards of Muryms army, Mira and Ravn get the command to blow up the gate with a giant fireball. While the wizards work together to open the door, Hwanwoong can see the archers of Dorus army gather on the wall. Their own archers get the command to attack while everyone holds up their shields to protect themselves from the incoming attacks. The twins reach for each others hand and cast their shield spell which protects a large portion of soldiers. Hwanwoong hears people fall to the ground somewhere behind them. Keonhee seems to hear it too. He looks terrified and stops shooting to look back. "Don't look back and don't think about it. Stay focused.", Geonhak says to him. Then Woongie hears people sing, it comes from the left gate and manages to bring out a small smile on the others faces. "Who is singing? It's so beautiful.", Seoho asks. "My people. They probably try to let twines grow, which can be used to climb up the wall.", Hwanwoong states.

The wizards shoot their fireball against the gate. It explodes and the army rushes into the city. Dorus soldiers run towards them and Hwanwoong gets immediately into a fight with one of them. His opponent swings his sword, Hwanwoong dodges and turns invisible for a few seconds then he stabs the soldier into his back. He wants to fight the next group of soldiers but he gets stopped by his friend. "Step back!", Ravn shouts. Mira and Ravn cast a water wave that knocks down a bunch of soldiers. Then bolts shoot out of their hands before the soldiers can stand up. Hwanwoong sees Seoho and Geonhak fight with a bunch of enemies in the distance and decides to help them. After they got rid of them they move on to a side road where they find the next group of soldiers who look at them fearfully. They tighten the grip around their swords and walk towards them. Their whole bodies are shaking and from the way they are holding their swords Hwanwoong can tell that they are probably man who were forced to join the army and got only minimal training. Seoho lowers his sword and opens the door of the house next to them. "How about we don't fight and you hide here instead.", the angel says with a bright smile on his face. "Thank you!", one of the soldiers says and the others nod. Then they disappear into the house. Together with the other soldiers of the kings and Muryms army they clear out the other side streets. Several man run over to their side, hide or surrender because they don't want to fight or are actually against the assassins guild. After a few hours they have conquered the first district and move on to the second one. The district is for the noble man and it is located directly in front of the castle. The majority of the assassins guilds wizards are positioned there and almost all of the soldiers seem to be part of the assassins guild which can be seen by the emblem on their armor. They get greeted into the new district by a volley of arrows and fire balls. "Dad, take my hand.", Dongmyeong shouts. The king does what he says and together they make a barrier in front of the army that can block the arrows and the fire balls. The fighters of the assassins guild run towards them. Mira and the other wizards try to make them fall with water waves while Hwanwoong hums to immobilize the soldiers that run towards him with twines. Once they are stuck Hwanwoong wants to stab them with his daggers but Ravn is faster than him and kills them with ice spikes. Hwanwoong looks over to Keonhee and sees that a soldier is attacking him. Keonhee screams once he notices him and falls backwards. The soldier is about to stab him but he looses control over his sword. Hwanwoong uses telekinesis to disarm him but the soldier doesn't let go of the sword. Through the distraction Keonhee is able to stab him with an arrow. Since they are in an disadvantage, the enemy retreats in direction of the castle. "Let's take time to gather here and take care of the wounded. Can someone see how the other two groups are doing?", the king asks. Two soldiers nod and disappear into the east and the west.
The twins disappear into the mass to take care of the wounded. The Hwanwoong walks over to the other four. Geonhak has a wound across his cheek. "What happened puppy?", Hwanwoong asks worried. "Someone attacked me from the side when I wasn't paying attention. But it's not that bad, it doesn't really hurt.", Geonhak says. "And you guys?" "I'm fine just... so many dead people...", Seoho says and looks to the ground with sad pout. "I think I have a few bruises but otherwise I'm fine.", Keonhee says. "Me too.", Ravn says. Keonhee suddenly draws his bow. "What's up, Keonhee?", Hwanwoong asks. Keonhee shoots his arrow, Hwanwoong looks in the direction it flies in and sees someone fall down the roof. "Spy.", Keonhee says. They wait twenty minutes then the soldiers come back with the news about the other groups. "The elves and dwarves have conquered one district and have almost cleared the next one. They will assist us once they are done.", the first soldier says. "The nothern army has conquered one district and are now moving on to next one.", the other one says. "Thank you! We will move on now too. Please get in position. Instead of a frontal attack, we are going to split up into three groups. The two other groups are going to attack from the sides. One group takes care of the archers, the other of the wizards. My sons are going to protect these groups. The third group is going to stay in the middle with me. So please split up evenly.", the king states. Dongmyeong leads his group to the left side and Dongju leads his group to the right side. Hwanwoong and the others decide to follow Dongju. The group hides between the houses and waits for a signal to attack "We are going to attack the wizards. Please be prepared to attack once we get the signal.", Dongju states. Then a lightening bolt shoots up from somewhere in the middle of the district. "Okay, let's go.", the prince says. "I think you need to say that a little bit louder.", Ravn says. "Ehhh... yeah... LET'S GO!!"
Dongju casts his shield spell over the group. Hwanwoong runs towards the wizards. Their enemies seem to be confused by their new strategy and try to regroup themselves. Hwanwoong attacks one of the wizards but he gets pushed back by a wind gust. Then the wizard shoots an ice spike at him. Hwanwoong concentrates on it and it slows down and flies back to the wizard. Then an wizard in the distance focuses on him. The ground underneath him gets shaky. Hwanwoong blows a kiss towards the wizard. A pink heart flies towards the wizard and hits him at his chest which makes the wizard walk towards Hwanwoong like he is in a trance. Once the wizard stands in front of him he touches his shoulder and tells him to attack his comrades. The wizard turns around and does what Hwanwoong said to him. He burns one of the other wizards faces with flames and shoots ice spikes at an other one before he gets freezed to death by a third one. Hwanwoong looks over to Dongmyeongs group for a second. They seem to be doing great but then suddenly something terrible happens. Dongmyeong gets stabbed by a soldier from behind. Hwanwoong freezes, the older twin has become one of his best friends over the past months, he can't be dying. A scream from behind him snaps Hwanwoong out of his state. "BROTHER!!", Dongju who was just healing someone behind him, shouts. Hwanwoong sees the younger twin run into the assassins guilds army to reach his brother. "Dongju, stop!", Ravn and Geonhak shout at the same time. The king also seems to realizing what is happening and panics. Dongju is killing everyone in his way and seems unstoppable. Hwanwoong has never seen someone fight like this and decides to help his friend reach his brother. He makes sure no one attacks the prince from behind but then Dongju gets hit into his chest by an arrow just as they were about to reach his brother. The younger prince falls to his knees and supports himself with his hands. "Bro..ther..", Hwanwoong can hear Dongmyeong trying to shout. Hwanwoong pulls the arrow out and hugs his friend. "No don't do this to me.", Hwanwoong whispers with tears in his eyes. The other four stand around them and are crying too. Dongju reaches out to his twin and so does Dongmyeong who is by now also surrounded by his friends. Then they both shut their eyes.

It is like the world stands still for a second then all of sudden Hwanwoong and everyone else around the twins gets pushed back. Hwanwoong can't believe his eyes. The twins glow in a golden light, making it hard for everyone to look at them and some of the soldiers around them from which Hwanwoong thought they were dead suddenly stand up. Geonhaks wound also has diappeared and Hwanwoong suddenly feels very energized and awake. After a few seconds the twins stop to glow. Their friends run towards them. The princes are very sweaty and out of breath but their wounds have disappeared. "Are you okay?", Seoho asks. Dongju doesn't answer and instead just hugs them. Once he lets go of them he crawls over to his brother and hugs him too.

Shortly after Hwanwoong hears loud footsteps coming from the west. He turns around and sees that the elves and dwarves have come to assist them. Now that they have double the amount of soldiers against them, have an not insignificant amount of soldiers be killed through Dongjus rampage and the kings and Muryms army being all healed and energized the assassins guilds army realises that they have no chance. They surrender and put down their weapons. The elves start to sing and trap them at the ground with twines. The king hugs his sons who are already standing again and speaks to the army after that. "Thanks to the elves and dwarves for coming to help us. Me and the soldiers I chose earlier are going to enter the castle now. The rest is going to split into one group who is going to hold the line here while the rest is going to support the nothern army.", the king explains.
The castle group gathers around the king. "Are you sure that you aren't to exhausted for this.", Ravn asks the twins. "Don't worry, we are fine.", Dongmyeong replies. "Let's go.", the king says.
