Chapter Five: The hour of the wolf

Geonhak POV

Geonhak runs through the city. His training ended late today and now he is late for dinner. When he arrives, he knocks at the door. "Hi, it's me! Sorry that I'm late.", he says and the door opens. He enters and sees four people sitting around the dining table and his friend Ravn stand by the door. "Ehh... A-Am I interrupting something?", he stutters. "Ahh.. no they are clients and will stay over night, nothing new.", Ravn answers. Geonhak sees the clients stare at him with a slightly fearful look in their eyes. He always hated when clients stayed over at the house. He isn't the most social person and usually they get scared by his deep voice and muscular body. But what bothers him the most is the crying and screams at night when they hear him howl. Even though it's not his fault because he can't go against his instincts, he still feels bad for them. Ravn pats Geonhak on the shoulder and signals him to sit down.
They start putting the food on their plates. Geonhak spots a bowl with chicken in the middle of the table and reaches for it but two pairs of hands grab it before he can. The two brown-haired men next to him start bickering about who gets the chicken first. Geonhak rubs his nape awkwardly and looks at the other three people at the table while he waits for his chicken. The blonde man put salad on his plate. Curiously he pokes the avocado in it with a big smile on his face which seems to never fade. When Geonhak entered the man already had a small smile on his face and in the five minutes he spend with him it never faded. It actually got even brighter. Something seems different about that guy, Geonhak just doesn't exactly know what. He turns his head and looks at the two wizards. They are both looking at the two skinny man who are still fighting over the food. They giggle then Ravn puts one hand up, the chicken flies through the room and an appropriate ammount lands on each of their plates. "Maybe I should introduce you to each other" , Ravn says. "Seoho, Keonhee, Dongju this is Leedo. Leedo they are Seoho, Keonhee and Dongju."
He points at the blonde man first, then at the tall brown-haired man and then at the smaller brown-haired man. They wave at him and shout: "Hello!" "Hello.", he greets them back and looks shyly on his plate. He grabs his fork and starts eating his chicken. The three men turn out to be very nice. Keonhee keeps on making jokes and tells funny stories about him and Dongju. Seoho laughs at almost everything that is told even if it isn't that funny. He sometimes throws in funny remarks or asks weird questions. Dongju is relativly quiet compared to them. He giggles a bit here or there. He protest whenever Keonhee tells something embarrasing about him and slaps him. Usually he then tells a embarrasing story about Keonhee in return. He also likes to roast the others whenever their stories or jokes are boring and draw out no reactions from the others. All of them are also curious about the wizards and Geonhak. Taeyang tells them a lot about his old work. Ravn explains them how they manage their garden and speaks a lot about different spells that he learned. Geonhak tells them that he sleeps at the wizards house every night since he is three years old due to his "illness".
They have a lot of questions about his job as guard and he gets pressured by them to show off his strength. He almost dies from embarassment when he is supposed to carry all the chairs in the living room with one hand.
After dinner Dongju and Ravn wash the dishes and Taeyang goes to sleep early. Keonhee looks at the books and mumbles about their contents to himself. Seoho keeps on falling asleep and always wakes up a few seconds later before falls asleep again. Geonhak slowly gets nervous. Soon it is twilight and he should probably go to bed before that. After a few minutes Dongju and Ravn come back from washing the dishes. Dongju walks towards Seoho who is resting his head on the table and seems to be completely asleep now. Dongju bends down, his lips almost touching Seohos ear and shouts: "Buh!"
Seoho groans and sits up straight. "Tired?", Dongju asks. "No, I wasn't sleeping.", Seoho replies. Geonhak giggles. "You were definitly asleep. You kept on falling fowards and sitting up again for two minutes and than put your head on the table and fell asleep.", Geonhak exclaims. "No, no, I was just meditating. It's just very different from how people meditate here."
The others laugh out loud while Seoho awkwardly scratches his head. Keonhee closes his book and sits down next to Geonhak. Ravn and Dongju also sit down when Seoho all of a sudden asks something:
"Do you want to come with us tomorrow? Ravn comes too and it would be good to have someone who can fight by our side."
"Eh.. I don't know. Where are you even going?" "We bring his angelic ass back to heaven but we need to get to Doru for this.", Keonhee answers. "Wait... what?" Geonhak looks at Seoho confused. Seoho grins, even though he never really stoped smiling. "I am an angel, I'm stuck here and they want to help me get back." "Oh.. ok. Hmm... I don't think I can leave because of my job.... and aren't angels supposed to have wings?" "Yeah where are your wings Seoho?", Dongju asks. Seoho touches his back and his wings reappear behind him. The others looks at Seoho with big eyes. "Wow... they are dope.", Ravn says. Seoho taps his wings and they disappear again. "The people on Ayrum aren't supposed to know we exist, since Taeyang knew about it and revealed it to you it doesn't matter if you see me with my wings but thats why I need to hide them and my powers." They nod.
"I think I can hire you as an escort for our mission than you should be able to come with us, Geonhak.", Ravn states. A voice speaks from behind them, making Keonhee flinch: "I will go and ask them now. I can't sleep while you are this loud anyway."
Ravns father opens the window and flies towards the city. "Oops, do you think your dad is mad at us?", Keonhee asks carefully. "No, he rarely gets mad. Geonhak, I think it is time."
Geonhak nods. "Yeah I should go to bed." Ravn walks in front of an empty wall on the left side of the room and knocks three times against it. A door-sized part of the wall disappears and reveals a alchemy laboratory. Ravn and Geonhak enter it while the three guests just peek through the door. On the left side of the room is a long table with a chair in front of it. A few books and papers are scattered on it and a device to destill potions stands on it. The rest of the walls are full with shelves with glasses that have either ingredients or potions in them, on them. Except for one corner where a big cage with old torn blankets in it stands. Geonhak sits down in the cage and lies down in a sleeping position. Ravn looks at the three men at the door who look at Geonhak bewildered. "This is our laboratory. We hide it because there are expensive, dangerous and some... illegal things in here. And Geonhak sleeps here in this cage because of his... condition.", Ravn explains to them. "And what is his condition if I may ask?", Keonhee asks.
"I am a werewolf. I started turning into a wolf when I was three. I couldn't do much damage back then since I was only a puppy but in my first night as a wolf I totally messed up my room and scared the hell out of my parents. Then they brought me here and since then I slept here every night. Taeyang showed me how I can control my wolf form and I can control it now but I still sleep here, in case I loose my control again." "Wow, can I stay here and pet you when you turn into a wolf?" , Seoho asks innocently.
"No, that's to dangerous. I might bite you." "If you bite us, I'll bite you back.", Dongju says and giggles. Geonhak smiles shyly at him.
"It's twilight! We should get out of here. Quick!", Ravn says and shoos the others out of the room. After that he closes the cage, leaves the room and closes the wall. Geonhak searches for a good sleeping position. Then he feels a power surge through him. He closes his eyes and falls asleep. When he wakes up in the middle of the night he looks down at his paws and starts howling. After a few minutes he lays down and falls asleep again.
