Chapter Thirty Three: Victory

Dongju POV

Dongju gets thrown against the wall. They are stuck on it for a few seconds before they fall to ground again. In the meantime Esmeralda got herself a sword from a dead soldier and teleported in front of the king. Seoho who was standing next to Dongju starts running towards them and jumps in between the two. Dongju screams as he sees his friend being stabbed and tries to run towards him but they get pushed against the wall again and a cage appears around them. Dongju pulls at the purple glowing bars and his hands get burned by them but he doesn't care. He just wants to be with Seoho. He can't be dead, can he? Tears stream down the younger twins face. Geonhak pulls him and his brother into a hug. The other twos eyes are also filled with tears.

In the corner of his eye Dongju sees a bow and arrows fly towards the assassins guild leader. She draws the bow and aims at his frightened father who tries to get away from her. The arrow flies through the air. Dongju closes his eyes and waits for the sound of the arrow hitting his target and his father falling dead to the ground. But it never comes. Instead he hears Esmeralda scream. It isn't a angry scream, a frightened one or one because of pain. It is a surprised one.

Seoho POV

Seoho feels the sword go through his heart. He gives Esmeralda a short smile then he closes his eyes and lets himself fall to the ground like a dead fish. He hears screaming from both sides then several bodies hitting the wall. People are crying on both sides, something flies through the air and the assassins guild leader catches it. He hears footsteps from the king behind him and a bow being drawn. This is Seohos signal. As he hears the arrow being shot he jumps up into the air and catches it with his hand. Esmeralda lets out a surprised scream. Seoho uses the moment of her being confused to pull the sword out of his body and stab Esmeralda with it. "I didn't mean to interfere but you left me no choice.", he whispers in her ear. Then he pulls out the sword and she falls to the ground. The others still look at him in disbelief. "You can't kill an angel. We are neither dead nor alive, remember?", the angel says. A smile comes onto the others faces, then they start cheering. "I am so happy I could kiss you.", Ravn says with tears in his eyes. "Then I'm glad your still in the cage. I actually can't get you out of there because I am not allowed to use magic. So I will quickly look for someone to get you out of there.", Seoho says. "Can't you get us out of here, Ravn?", Keonhee asks. Ravn tries to use the spell but nothing happens. "I think these cages suppress our magic abilities.", Ravn concludes. "Then I will go outside and get someone to help you.", Seoho says. "I am coming with you. I need to check on the situation.", the king says. Seoho and the king leave through the huge door. The general and the other soldiers they came with are looking at them expectant. "Esmeralda is dead. The city is ours again.", the king announces. The general and soldiers cheer and follow Seoho and the king through the giant front door. Outside the whole army has gathered in front of the castle and between the houses while the generals and the two kings sit on the stairs that lead to the front door and chat. Some of residents have come out to look for their family members.
"How is the situation?", the king asks the generals and other kings. "We have successfully conquered the whole city.", the dwarf king says. The king nods. "Everyone, the city is ours again, the assassins guild leader is dead!", the king shouts and the army cheers. "Ehm, can anyone maybe help me to get my friends out of magical cages?", Seoho asks. One of the armies wizards nods and the two head inside.

Dongju POV

After the king and Seoho leave the others sit down and chat about the situation. "I can't believe he is still alive.", Dongmyeong says. "Well, he said he is neither dead nor alive, so I'm not sure if he was alive in the first place.", Ravn says. "Is he undead then?", Keonhee wonders. "In reality he is a zombie that wants to eat out brains.", Geonhak says and mimicks a zombie. The others giggle. "But if he can't be killed, what happens if someone chops off his head?", Hwanwoong asks. "Maybe it flies back onto his body.", Dongju replies. "Doesn't he need to go back home now that we have conquered the city?", Mira asks. The others nod and their smiles slowly fade. "But he can't go before we have celebrated our victory since he is the one who even made it possible.", Dongmyeong says, trying to lift the mood again. "But that will also only be a few more days.", Geonhak says. "Well, we still need to take care of the ones who died in this battle and the wounded soldiers, then we have to go back and tell the village that we have won the battle, after that we will have our first party with the whole army which will take a few days to prepare, then we have to say goodbye to them, the next step is that my family moves to this palace which will take a few weeks, and then we will celebrate the new ruler of this city which will also take at least a week to prepare and then we can start searching for this special magical room. So depending on how much we can slow down the progress of all of these things Seoho might need to stick around for a few more months.", Dongmyeong explains with a mischievous smile on his face. The others giggle. "I hope he comes to visit us sometimes after he is back home.", Ravn says. "I doubt that he will be allowed to do that.", Dongju says. "Maybe if we pray to god everyday he will give Seoho some free time to visit us.", Hwanwoong says. "I really don't want him to go.", Keonhee says.

In this moment the door swings open and Seoho and a wizard enter. "I'm back with someone to help you."
It takes the wizard a few minutes to get rid of the cages. Meanwhile Dongju watches how the angel gathers the dead bodies of their enemies in one spot. "What are we going to do with them?", Seoho asks. "All the bodies will get burned in the town center during the memorial ceremony.", Mira states. "I'm really glad that I'm not in heaven right now. They probably have so much paperwork to do right now.", Seoho says. "It's really sad that so many people had to die today. Why do people always need to kill each other?", Dongju says. "Because they are selfish and heartless. It would be so much better if there weren't people who always want more power.", Geonhak replies. "I guess it's just like in the wildlife: Survival of the fittest. The more powerful you are, the more likely you are to survive.", Ravn says. "But Esmeralda didn't survive even though she was extremely powerful, so maybe you have work on that theory a little more.", Keonhee says. "But also her opponent was more powerful, so maybe he is not to far off.", Hwanwoong says. In this moment the cages around them disappear. "Thank you.", they say to the wizard who bows down to them and then walks away. "It's an interesting topic. We actually spoke a lot about it in heaven.", Seoho says. "Yes very interesting but I think if I need to listen to anymore of your philosophical conversations my head will explode. I am going outside to grab some fresh air.", Dongmyeong says. The others giggle. "I am also going outside to check on the king.", Mira says. The two disappear through the door.

Seoho suddenly hugs his friends tightly. "I am so glad that nothing happened to you.", Seoho says. "You can imagine how glad we are that your not dead.", Geonhak says. All of them get tears in their eyes again. They hug and cry while the setting sun is shining through the windows on them. "God, I think I need to give all of you a peck.", Ravn suddenly says. They quickly let go of each other and try to get away from Ravn as fast as possible.
