Star Wars: Episode 1 Review

This was boring....

Episode one follows 9-year-old Anakin and how he gets out of slavery. We also met Padme, who at the time was 14 and yet Anakin still flirted with her. But it was a cute scene. We learn that Anakin is the chosen one and he gets off the island. He has no dad, just a mom. The force is his dad, I suppose since the force made his mom pregnant.

He isn't accepted as a Jedi Learner (I know that's not what they called it in the movies but I forgot) because Yoda says he's too old and Yoda knows he misses his mother. As much as I love Yoda I wasn't really on his side that much. I get what he's trying to say to Anakin about hurt and loss and it leads to hate and anger then you're in the dark side thing. But he just left his mother to fulfill his destiny. I remember leaving my parents for a summer camp the first year I went and I went an extra week on it and I missed my parents the most the first few days because that was the longest time I didn't see them. But in the middle towards the end of that week I was better. But c'mon you can't deny you didn't miss your parents when they weren't with you. That was completely normal for Anakin. (As Padme says in Episode two) he's human. I think Yoda was harsh a little but I understand why. Sorry I ranted as always but I needed to get that out there.

My favorite scene was the pod race. I knew Anakin would win but I was still on the edge of my seat waiting.

Padme is a strong female character and it didn't feel like she was pushed to make feminists happy. She stood up for herself and her people and I loved her character arc. And her last scene with Anakin as they look at each other and smile was really sweet. Yes, at the time she was too old for him. But his crush on her was just adorable. But the age difference is kinda creepy. But kids will be kids.

By the end of the movie Obi-Wan's master is dead and now has to raise and train Anakin. But I can't understand why people hate Episodes 2 & 3. It helps us understand Luke and Leia's parents' backstory. It teaches us that you must do the right thing otherwise you will pay for your actions. Which later on happens to Anakin.

The bad outweighed the good for me. There were scenes that were dragged. It seemed like as soon as I was entertained the next scene would just drag.

If you're thinking about watching Star Wars and you don't watch this film, you're not missing anything.

I don't remember much about the film because I was so bored. I tried giving it a second chance. I couldn't finish it. But I tried.

My rating: 3/10
