I rang the doorbell and waited, bouncing on my toes. "Come on, come on, open the door I'm starving," I muttered, knocking a few times for good measure. Finally, Bruce pulled open the door, wearing a loose t-shirt that clearly showed how thin he had gotten and squinted at me in confusion. "What're you doing here?" he mumbled with a yawn, rubbing his eyes.
"You said you wanted to go to breakfast today! At nine! And it's 9:30!" I said eagerly. A sudden look of realization spread across his face and he gave me a sheepish smile. "Oh yeah I did say that, didn't I? Let me uh...let me go get dressed, hold on."
The door closed and within three minutes he was back, hair pulled back into a ponytail and a much brighter smile on his face. "Alright sorry about that let's go. You want me to drive?" I nodded, following him to his car and sliding into the passenger seat, propping my feet up on the dashboard. "Haven't been in this spot in forever," I said, nestling back into the seat, heart happy.
Rolling his eyes, he pushed my legs away, starting the car with a smile. "Yeah alright, just because we're friends again doesn't mean you get to make a mess of my car. Where you wanna go?" "Mm let's go to JJ's. I want a waffle."
JJ's was surprisingly uncrowded for a Sunday morning, and we were able to get a booth pretty easily. Bruce kicked me under the table, pointing over my shoulder. "Hey, look who it is!"
Ace and Peter were sitting at a table across the restaurant, holding hands as they shared a waffle. And by sharing a waffle, I meant taking turns feeding each other bites of waffle. "Awww, is that what you and Shandi do?" I teased, making his face turn pink. "No! No it's not, shut up. Probably what you and Carrie do."
I shook my head, grinning. "Nope, we're not dating, you can't pull that one on me." He gave me a confused look, setting down the menu in disbelief. "Eric, yes you are. She texted me and asked if me and Shandi wanted to go on a double date with you two at the ice cream parlor. And she was saying how funny it was that her best friend's boyfriend was her boyfriend's best friend."
My mouth dropped open and I stared at him in shock, face slowly turning red. "What?!" Bruce buried his face in his hands, shaking his head. "Eric, how the hell do I know you're dating Carrie before you do?"
"Wait wait you're joking, right? I'm seriously...Carrie's dating me?! Why didn't you tell me?!?" He held up his hands in exhasperation. "I mean unless she was lying to me, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't, she seemed pretty happy about the fact. And I didn't say anything to you because we weren't talking to each other at the time, I'm sorry. I guess you can ask her. Actually you should probably do that to make sure you guys actually are before you do something stupid. I don't want that added onto my conscience."
The waitress walked over, interrupting my confused questions. "And what can I get for you two today?" I looked at Bruce, mind still reeling, who just grinned. "I'll have 2 eggs scrambled with a side of bacon and toast." "And for you?"
I glanced at the menu, realizing I hadn't actually decided what I want to eat. "Uh, I'll have a waffle and I'll add the ice cream to that. And then can I get an omelet too? Oh and coffee please, thank you!"
As she walked off, Bruce raised an eyebrow. "Geez Eric, hungry much?" I nodded, gratefully accepting the cup of coffee the waitress handed me, chugging it down with a satisfied smile and putting it on the edge of the table, waiting for a refill. "Little bit, yeah. So anyway, back to the fact I'm apparently dating Carrie?!"
"Eric just ask her about it!" he cried, smiling. Hands shaking, I pulled out my phone, sending her a quick snapchat of Bruce. 'hey he said u said u and i were dating and i was just wondering if we were? like i mean if we are im really sorry for not noticing lol and i'd be happy if we are dating!'
