Hanji's POV

After confessing my past to Nanaba, we concluded our trek in the mall and began to make our way to the place I once called my home. My heart pounded when I thought of that... mostly because there was so much memories hitting me at once. For the past 10 years, I concealed my time here. I've forgotten about Levi and our relationship. I assumed that he would've been adopted and had a good family. I was wrong.

"Hanji..."

I snapped back to reality, and saw the orphanage right in front of us. My breath was short and ragged when I saw the orphanage. Everything was practically the same... except a few happy roses on the bushes... and the tree-house... that tree-house was being overgrown. I bet Levi was still in there, since he ran from his workplace.

Nanaba and I both exited the car, and we were overwhelmed with the cute children. They squealed loudly and kept shouting that we were gonna adopt them. Unfortunately, we had to put their hopes and dreams down. But there was this trio of kids staring at me. Their eyes were wide with surprise, just huddling near each other.

Soon enough, the brunet boy with emerald eyes walked up to me with his hands behind his back. "Y-You're Miss Hanji... right?"

"Yeah, I am."

He smiles gleefully and tugs on my arm. "Come with me! I'll show you Levi-Bro's room! Everyone says that you loved him!"

I turned to Nanaba to plea for help, but I eventually gave in. As I was being dragged off, I could hear Nanaba's smug laughter. They dragged me into the orphanage, and my... everything changed. There was more tables and more open space. Which meant more kids. More kids, more toys. I couldn't take a good look at everything as I was being lead upstairs. One floor... two floors... the third floor.

When I lived here, the third floor was meant for all the staff to be living. The second floor was the living quarters. On the right side was the girls, and the left was boys. I chuckled softly, shaking my head a bit. I remember a lot...

"Here's his room!" The brunet boy shouts, taking out a ring of keys. He flips to one silver one and unlocks the door. His emerald eyes went big when he turned to me. "U-Um... please don't tell Levi-Bro about this... please... I'll get in trouble..."

Once more, I chuckled again and nodded my head. "I won't say another word. Go and run."

Those three did what I said, running off and I was left in the room.

His little habits never changed a single bit. Everything was spotless and dust-free. His bed was neatly done, but it seemed that he never slept in it. The mattress felt hard to the touch, but the one thing that felt softer was a couch in the corner. A phone charger was left unplugged, and there was a small book near it. I picked up the book, seeing a bookmark there. I opened the book to that bookmark... behold a picture of the two of us. It was a strip of pictures, like those photo booths thing. We made funny faces as we took those pictures. We were... so close...

I continued to look around, seeing so many memories there. He was stuck in the past. I moved on. I know realize the problem with it all. He was trying to move on... and when he finally tried to move on... I wandered back into his life.

Tears slowly drifted down my cheeks. He couldn't bury our memories down, yet I have. I moved on from the world. I moved on from this orphanage, and made a better life. He was constantly surrounded in memories he could never escape from. Seeing he was still here, he never got adopted. Left alone... and I wasn't there.

I closed my eyes, trying to understand how he must've felt. I could feel... my heart being ripped out of my chest. I thought about losing everyone I knew within an instant. I would've gone insane. Levi... Levi felt exactly that. I never thought that he wouldn't be adopted. I thought he would be better... but that is not true.

Haunted by everything, god... Levi...

"Had enough of my depressing life?"

I gasped and jumped when I heard his voice. I turned around and saw him leaning on the door frame. A frightening scowl appeared on his face. His arms were crossed ferociously. His eyes were stormy as ever... but I could see stains of red.

"Well?"

"U-Uh..."

"How did you get into my room in the first place?" His tone changed slightly- becoming more... kinder. "You know what? Never-mind, I bet it was one of those kids. Anyways... regret anything?"

I looked down at the pictures again, sighing softly. There was a sharp sting in my eyes, and my glasses slowly fogged up. "I'm sorry, Levi... I should've contacted you."

"Why didn't you?"

"Overwhelmed. I cried for days after I left the orphanage. But my new family helped me adjust. Took me to college seminars. Finally made some friends and slowly moved on from my past here. I nearly forgotten it all. Even my ex helped me move on...and I just didn't notice it."

"Ex?"

I nodded my head softly, "Yeah... Moblit. I dated him for a bit... and turns out, he has an interest in other girls. In his words, I'm too insane for him. I'm just... too excessive."

"I see..."

"Levi, I want to make it up. Make it all up. Although everything is hitting me at once, I want to try to fix it. This time... I won't leave you behind... that's a promise. Please..." I slowly began to beg him. I didn't want to beg him at first... but I wanted to. I had to. Levi... "I'm sorry for everything..."

Levi slowly walked up towards me, almost resisting to do something. "You said that... you had an ex... right?"

"Yes."

"You're not dating anyone then?"

I shook my head, "I'm not."

"Good." I opened my mouth to question him, but he reached up and kissed my lips. We lingered for a few seconds before he pulled away. "Sorry for bursting out at you... you should come back soon..." A few footsteps later, I was left alone in his room. Little children screamed his name and begging him to help with their homework. I chuckled softly, seeing how well he is with kids...
