Eren's POV

Carefully, I poured the milk into my bowl of cereal for breakfast. I am always up before anyone else- because I get to watch TV before going to school. I hummed a little bit as I began to eat up the cereal until Big Bro Levi came down in a hurry. It was weird... he was looking weird. When he saw me, he nearly panicked. Or in his words, nearly had a heart attack.

"Eren, what are you doing up at this moment?" He asks as he hurriedly put on his shoes.

I giggled eating a spoonful of the cereal. Even I felt a small drop of milk falling down my chin. "Eating breakfast. Where are you going, Big Bro?"

"Police station."

"W-Why? Are you in trouble again...?" I looked away, disliking the idea that he would be in trouble again. I hated it- I hated it very much. It wasn't fair. He was trying to be a good big brother, but always getting in trouble. "Big Bro..."

He smiles and chuckles softly, kissing my forehead. I made a tiny noise when he did so, but he smiled! He smiled at me! "I'm not in trouble... just gonna do something there. And, I have a little job for you, Eren. Think you can handle it?"

"Uh huh! I can do anything!" I then proceeded to stand onto the chair, wobbling a bit, but I didn't mind it one bit. "I'm a big boy!"

Levi chuckles once more. "Alright then, but first, sit down before you get hurt." I did so, staring intensely towards him. "Miss Hanji is staying in my room- she came over last night. Now, I want you to make sure that she's getting a lot of rest. And try not to disturb her. Okay?"

I nodded my head, clenching my fists. "Okay! I won't let anything bad happen to her!"

"I'll be back before you guys go to school, alright? It won't be long. And again, nothing happens to her, okay?"

"I won't let anything get to her at all!"

Soon enough, Big Bro Levi was out the door with a sly smile- kinda like mine! "I'll see if I can bring doughnuts for everyone as well." I gasped as soon as he left the orphanage. D-Doughnuts...?!

"Um... how can we make eggs... and bacon...?" Armin tilts his head as we all stare at the kitchen. No one wanted my cereal for breakfast, so they were thinking of waiting for the adults to make us breakfast. But really, all the adults weren't living with us. They were busy with their own thing. They knew Big Bro Levi was always the best choice... but now... there's no one... except... "Eren, where's Levi...?"

"He went to the police station..." I say, growling softly. I was the oldest one here- well, Mikasa is older, but I'm the oldest boy here- next to Levi! "But he's not in trouble!"

Armin nods his head, sighing softly, "Well... still... there's no adult here... we can't use the stove... and we don't know how to cook food..."

I opened my mouth to say that Miss Hanji was here, but then... I remembered that Levi wanted her to rest. I promised that nothing bad would happen to her. So, I said something else that should help everyone and not bother Miss Hanji. "What if... we learned how to use it all? That way we can have breakfast!"

All the other kids stared at me like I was a crazy person. Even Mikasa started to speak out to me. "Eren, isn't that dangerous? You're gonna get hurt."

"It's not him that's gonna get hurt!" Armin screeched, looking frantically at me. "E-Eren, it would really make Levi angry at us if this whole place is on fire! We can't cook at all! We have to wait until he comes back, or until there's an adult here. Stoves are only used by-"

"S-Shut up!" All the other kids gasped when I said the bad word. But why is it a bad word if Big Bro Levi says it all the time whenever he doesn't want to listen to anyone? If he can say it, then I should be able to, right...? "If we're all hungry... then it isn't our fault..."

I then grabbed a stool and quickly turned a few knobs. I remember what Big Bro Levi does whenever he makes us food. Especially eggs and bacon. I remember he puts on a big pan... puts some yellow thingy in the pan before he went to the eggs. He broke them, and tossed the shells away. With a fork, he stirred it up and poured it into the pan. With a large spatula, he would move the eggs around... and put it all onto the pan- wait... I'm forgetting something... ugh, what was it?!

"E-Eren," I turned to see Armin shuffling a bit in his pajamas, "are you sure this is safe?"

"I remember what Big Bro Levi did! I'm following his instructions!"

"Eh?! But none of us used a stove before! How do you know what to do?!"

I growled softly, looking away embarrassingly. "I-I watched him... so don't worry! I got it!"

Multiple times, they told me to stop because it was dangerous and because I didn't know what to do. But I hated being told that. I wanted to be just like Big Bro Levi! So from my memory, I tried to do everything right. I thought everything was right... but that was before... there was black smoke everywhere...

"U-Uh oh..." I whisper as I tried to wave the smoke away. But it was no use. Even the fire alarm went off. "B-Big Bro... L-Levi..."

Armin tried to scream at the top of his lungs, but the noise drowned him out. We all began to cough because of the smoke... then I suddenly realized... Miss Hanji!!!

With our remaining strength, we moved away from the stove. It might've been the smoke, but for some reason, I couldn't move my legs. It wouldn't listen to me. That's when we turned to the stairs... because Miss Hanji was there. She moved so quickly... how did she get rid of the smoke...?

Through all the commotion... I heard the window open and a splash of water- then it was hissing. Not long before Miss Hanji came to us, panting heavily with her hand on her stomach. She looked at all of us... even worse than when Big Bro Levi is angry at me.

"What happened...?" Shamefully, I looked away. "Eren, what happened?" She says it so sternly... I began to shiver in fear!

"W-We were hungry... Miss Hanji... and I wanted to make eggs for everyone... but I think I burnt them too much..."

Instead of her getting mad at me again, she smiled softly and wrapped her arms around me. "You could've woken me up, Eren. I was here."

That's when I began to cry. "B-Because... he told me to make sure that you weren't disturbed... and I wouldn't bother you... I-I'm sorry, Miss Hanji..."

She looked up and looked around the room, "Huh... where did he go...?"

"The police station." Mikasa says coldly, sitting on the couch. "Eren said that he wasn't in trouble... but he didn't tell us why he went there."

Before Miss Hanji said anything else, I spoke first. "He just said he... he had to go. And he wasn't in trouble. Just that he was gonna do something there..."

"Okay then. First, let's get you all ready for school. It is a Friday, so be a bit cheerful. I'll make breakfast now- before we cause any fires." She winks at me before grabbing some papers and flapping the smoke away and out the window. I-I'm happy... that she's Big Bro Levi's girlfriend... if it was that... erm... P-Petra girl... I hated her.
