The walls were painted white and the floors were wooden. There were the same two canopy beds, same dresser. I ran over to a dresser and opened it. There were 2 nightgowns- one pink and one blue with white stripes, about 10 pants and shirts, a fresh white robe, hairbrush, and a few hair accessories. I threw my bag onto a bed and spun around slowly, taking in the surroundings. There was a large window that had a ledge on the inside, and a big, fluffy pillow and blanket on it. I unpacked my bag and placed everything into the dresser. I put the bag on top, and the notebook and pen on the small table by my bed. Dawn and I talked until Dr. Skilling came to direct us downstairs. We rose and followed her to the 2nd floor and into the store.
My mouth gaped open, looking at all the dresses in the area. I've never seen so many beautiful dresses and suits like this in my life. Dawn and I both split up and went around, looking at things around the store. I ran my hands along them as I walked down the aisle. While walking, I bumped into Logan.
"Watch it, scum." She said, shoving me into a rack as she walked by. I fell to my knees and heard laughing as she and Hope walked away. I saw a shadow hover over me. I looked up, and saw that it was Nick. He offered me his hand, and I took it and he pulled me up. He gave a brief smile, then walked away. I walked down the aisle once more, and found two dresses: one that was a peachy pink color, and another that was spring green. I pulled both of them off the rack, then went to go find Dawn.
"I like this one." She said, stepping out of a dressing room. She turned to me and spun around. She had on a deep red figure-fitting dress that flared at the bottom. It had two puffy sleeves and a bow in the lower back. She looked back at me, and all I could do was smile. She smiled back at me and nodded, then went back into the dressing room. I went into one as well and tried on the green dress. Before I went out of the room, I looked at myself in the mirror. I shrugged and walked out of the dressing room. Dawn squealed and clapped her hands.
"I love this!! I love it I love it I love it!" She exclaimed. Her face turned serious. "Wait here." She said. Before I could respond, she was gone, leaving me awkwardly waiting by the dressing room in my dress. Nick passed by, holding a tux. He stopped by me and looked me up and down.
He smiled, "You look," he paused, "absolutely beautiful." He said, red becoming visible on his cheeks. I laughed. "Thanks. I'll bet you look amazing in that tux too." I replied. He smiled shyly and blushed. Dawn came back and held up a small silver heart shaped necklace with a small sapphire gem in the middle of it. Nick waved goodbye and I waved back. I looked to my side and saw Logan approaching Nick in a slinky gold dress with one sleeve and a bow in the front. She turned around and flipped her curly blonde hair onto her shoulder and said something to him. He shook his head and made a few hand gestures then walked away. Logan stamped her foot in protest and flipped her hair and stalked back into the dressing room. I nodded to Dawn and went back into the dressing room and changed into the clothes I was wearing before. I put the other dress back on its rack and got a bag to put over the dress to protect it. I walked out and back into our room with Dawn. I hung the dress onto a small rack near the end of the room and Dawn did the same. I stood in the center of the room.
"Now what are we supposed to do? Classes start in 5 days!" I said. Dawn sat on her bed, thinking.
"There's a library down on the first floor. I believe there's also a café." I bolted for the door, shouting, "To the library!" behind me. She caught up to me and we went down the elevator together. The first floor was abuzz with people. We maneuvered our way through the crowd and into the library, where everything was quiet and peaceful. We split up and wandered along the tall aisles filled with books. I stared up at the top of the shelves filled with different colors of book covers with the titles written on them.
I found one with a deep magenta cover. I climbed up the ladder and slid the book out of its place on the shelf. Everlasting the title read. I climbed down the ladder and brought the book to a counter, where I signed my name and walked out, where Dawn was waiting for me.
"Dr. Skilling just made an announcement. She said that we had to get back to our dorms to get ready for the ball. Let's go!" She said. We ran back to the elevator and to our dorms. We changed into our dresses and Dawn brushed her hair out and placed a small clip in it. I slid the necklace on and she ordered me to sit. I sat on my bed and she ran my brush through my hair.
"I'm doing a waterfall on your hair." She said. I didn't know what that was.
"My sister showed me how to do it once. It'll look really pretty in your hair." She said. After a few minutes, she was done and we hurried to the elevator together.
