Prologue- Lovers in Absolute Despair

My footsteps echoed through the streets. The smell of blood engulfed me. The screams were all gone, the massacre finished. Yet here I was. I swung the chain around my neck around and sighed. This is taking longer than expected... Regardless I couldn't stop now. I cant stop now. Not when I'm so close.. I walked over a pile of dead bodies. Throats and stomachs slashed or impaled.  I smiled, a smile that might be considered too wide. I began to walk over to the bodies, looking for one I could use. Finally I found one. I whipped out my knife and plunged it into their chest. I carved out a hole and put my hand into their chest. Finally.. I can add to my collection! She'll be so happy!!  I hurriedly took out their heart. Good.. I didn't damage it... Ah.. I bloodied myself getting it out. I'm sure she'll understand. I put the heart in my bag that I was carrying around. It had everything I needed if this interaction didn't go as planned. I had to hurry. She might leave if i'm too slow. That's when I heard an explosion and a loud scream. I laughed darkly, "I'm coming for you~" I whispered and walked in the direction of the explosion.

I searched around the debris for any sign of her. I picked up chunks of building and finally after all that.. I found what i was looking for. I reached toward the object, my finger wrapping around it. I slowly brought it to my face, holding it to my check. I closed my eyes.. I'm so close. "I'll find you soon." I heard another explosion, much closer than the last.  I slowly walked towards it. I could feel myself giggling. Finally the moment has come! What  if she doesn't forgive me? No... no, she will, she will. She has to. 

"Y/N?" I said in a soft, almost childlike voice. "Y/N?" I'm sure the explosion came from here... I'm sure of it. I noticed footprints in the gravel. It must be her. The feet aren't small enough to be a kids. I followed the trail she left. "Y/N?" I asked again. She had to be hiding. If I was her, where would I hide? The trail ended once it reached the grass. She must be close. Like a predator hunting for their prey, I searched for her. Turning over any potential hiding spots I began to get annoyed. Where is she!?  Anger started started boiling within me. I will find her. No matter the cost.  I then caught sight of a small opening covered up by a dumpster. There... I pushed the dumpster to the side, opening the hole in the wall. I crawled through it. Once I got up I brushed off my pants and shirt. There I was greeted by paradise. A place untouched by the massacre. How? I thought they've destroyed everything..? "Y/N? Y/N are you there?!" There was a massive tree in the center, this place seemed to be someones old garden. Flowers flooded the area. "Y/N?" I circled the tree. Nothing. Then I heard a whimper. I looked in the direction of the sound. I smiled once again. "Y/N..." I calmly walked over to a bush and looked behind it. My heart stopped. "Y-Y/N???" She was curled up in a ball, eyes closed. Upon hearing her name, she opened her eyes. She blinked a few times and her mouth hung open. "Y/N..." I smiled, my first genuine smile in months. "Nagi??? Is that really you??" Her eyes filled with tears. "Yes Y/N... it's really me." 
"Nagi!" She jumped up and hugged me. I welcomed her with open arms. She clung to me desperately. I did the same. "I missed you so much..." I whispered into her ear. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes. "Its... i'm sorry it's been so long.." I stroked her hair. "Sssshhh my dear, don't cry. I'm here... I'm finally here.." 
"N-nagi.." she cried. "Sssh... ssssh it's okay. I'm here. I'm here." I kissed her neck. I truly didn't deserve to, but i couldn't help myself. "I-I missed you so much.... more then you'll ever know.." She said interrupting my thoughts. "Are you okay? " I asked. "More then I've ever been.." she said nuzzling into my neck. She let out a soft moan. "Cute..." I mentioned. "Please don't leave me again.." she said. "I won't.... I promise I wont ever leave you again." There we sat, in a blissful hug for what seemed like forever. "Y/N.. will you come with me?" 
"H-huh? What do you mean?"
"Away from this place. To somewhere safe." 
"No where's safe!" she exclaimed. "So.. you won't come with me?... I see.." I said slowly bringing my arm to my belt. "What are you doing?" she asked. "I'll save you from this place... from this despair." I brought the object up to her neck and in one swift motion injected her with it. She yelped, but soon fell into my arms. "Good girl.. thank you for not putting up a fight." Good thing I requested this "special" drug to be made. I'm so lucky it actually worked! I laughed quietly to myself. I gently set my darling down and admired her. She looks so peaceful.. her hair perfectly framing her face, her lips slightly parted Her peaceful breaths brushed against my face. Giving into my urges I kissed her softly. "Sorry.. I know scum like me doesn't deserve that.." I got up and looked at her hiding spot. There was a high tech bow on the ground, a quiver full of high tech arrows and a backpack. "Where did she get this??" I asked myself. I picked them up and slung them around my shoulder.  Next was the backpack, I unzipped it and looked inside. There I found a heart shaped locket, my old clothes and... the necklace I gave her back then.. She actually kept it??  I opened the locket to be met with three pictures. The left one was taken on New Years. Fireworks framed the sky and me and her were cuddling on a blanket. Oh.. Mahiru took that one. As expected of the ultimate photographer to take such an amazing photo.  In the right one we were kissing under a cherry tree. Her arms were wrapped around my neck and mine were wrapped around her waist. Once again taken by Mahiru. But the middle one.. my personal favorite, caught my attention. It was a photo of us at Ibuki Mioda's concert. God she got me so hyped up for that..  We were both smiling wide at the camera, my arm wrapped around her shoulder, making a peace sign with my hand. Finally one taken by her!! I put the locket and necklace back. She really tried to keep me as close as possible, huh?  I felt honored someone as amazing as her wanted to keep a part of me with them. I went back to her and smiled. "I'll save you..." I whispered. I bent down and picked her up. "I'll truly save you my hope."
