Chapter 11
I had three days left before I had to return to the diner. Of course I still planned to move in with Leon but I had to go back to tie a few loose ends. By now Gianni had warmed up to Leon again and was back into the habit of calling him papa. Early the day before Leon had taken him shopping for toys so he was now in the room Leon had converted into a playing room playing with his toys and Shire. It was now after midday and Leon and I still hadn't left the bed. I must however admit that we didn't do much sleeping . . .
There was knock at the door.
"Yes?" Leon asked.
"Mama . . .lake."
"No sweetheart you were out at the lake for almost the whole day yesterday." I answered.
"But mama . . " He began to whine.
"We will go out to lake when sun gets cooler." Leon promised.
"Yay!!!" I heard him scream and I imagine he was jumping up and down. I heard his footsteps grow fainter and fainter as he ran back to his play room. I stared wide eyed at Leon.
"What?" He asked innocently.
"You spoil him, you know that right?"
"Yes but I spoil you more."
"True." I admitted giving him a kiss.
The next three days were spent in virtually the same way. Spending a third of the day in bed and the other two third with Gianni. It was absolutely perfect. It made me anxious for us to actually move in.
As we prepared to board Leon told me that he was giving me no more than a month to pack everything up and get back. Anything longer and he was coming for us with his personal movers. I nodded, amused be his threat then right before I walked off he grabbed me and gave me one last kiss. He didn't seem willing to let go so I did.
"If we keep this up I'll never leave the airport." I whined.
"So?" He asked with a breath taking smile. The intercom announced the final boarding call for my flight.
"Tell papa you'll see him soon Gianni." I said now walking off. Gianni waved as we moved further away. Shire had to jog to keep up with us. We sat in plane waiting for it to fly off. As it began to move Gianni got frantic.
"No! Papa!" He began squirming in his seat trying to get out. "Wait for papa!!!"
"Gianni stop." I whispered. "We'll see papa soon, we're just going for a few things."
"No! Want papa!" He started crying. It would be a long flight.
By the time we had landed Gianni was fast asleep. He wore himself out crying so even though I had no lugguage to carry I had to carry him. One of my friends from the diner picked us up and drove us home. When we got home I put Gianni in his bed then threw myself on mine. Soon this room would be a distant memory. . . soon I would be Signora Marcello. Just that thought gave me butterflies in my stomach- I couldn't wait!
I grabbed my phone. My parents definitely had to know. My fingers eagerly dialed mama's number, papa hardly answered his phone so she was my best bet.
"Hello?" Mama asked sounding preoccupied.
"Hi mama."
"Kaity? Hey baby. What's up?"
"I have great news." I said, now almost too excited to keep my composure.
"What?" Mama asked cautiously.
"Leon proposed to me!" I squealed into the phone. There was a moment of silence. My heart sank. Was she still against Leon? I heard a shuffle then mama voice.
