I went after the light at the wake of day
And I followed the light at the rest of night
Since my childhood till now that I'm an oday
I have pursued the light with all of my mightFor the light had always been my best friend
Spreading love over everything unto no end
Upon seas and seas, of never-seizing sand
And bodies and bodies, of old watery land
The light forever led my skinny wiry handEngaging me with my soul's reflection
Even before I knew my family's name
The light reached deep with resurrection
For over the hills and river, we played a gameIt's the light that showed me the right path
And kept illuminated, this my dark heart
Showed me hope, when the world was apart
From the clouds and windows, it was spawn
Sweeping all lives clean, at the break of dawnSo I have a merry melody to uplift
And I have a very little poem to write
And I title it the light, the light, the light
For now I truly believe the light is God
And I hope that, no man finds that odd.
