AND I LISTENED FOR A RHYME

Through the clouds in the distant sky
A soft gentle sound like an angel's cry
Descended away like sunrise over seas
A fair contemplation for my fantasies

And I listened for a wonderful rhyme
As the melody of rain, gently climbed
Sentimental like one holding his child
The gray flashed white, vivid and wild

As my heart went on faster, and faster
Translucent and divine like alabaster
Streamlets of ease arrested my peace
A dead city of light and dust in crease

And I listened for a beautiful rhyme
From a far drifting cloud in its prime
All matter of this world in this time be
Mine for the taking, like wind on tree

And before me, the birds come outside
Singing the storm is over, with eyes wide
And in this joyful solitude, silent I speak
This're the sights my heart will ever keep.
