THE OLD MAN AND HIS THOUGHTS

The old man sat in front of his collapsing building and let out a yawn
For the past seven days, he had walked once again in memories lawn
He was thirsty and hungry but there was no one to give him any food
Even with all the drugs the pain on the side of his back had continued

His wife had passed away three years ago and daily he still missed her
He let away another tired yawn and contemplated fixedly into the afar
He could still catch her voice in the breeze, en route from the market
How he wished to uncover the old young picture he left in his pocket

Time prints on a page, alas even that had been taken away by old age
But every once in a while, some memories did escape from their cage
Even they came with so much sorrow and tears, regrets and mistakes
How much he wanted to take a last swim in the village rivers and lakes

Glory in the troubled hours, when he basked in the light of ignorance
He closed his eyes, and saw images in his mind traveling furtherance
How he missed his children, although they sent money and foodstuff
The flicker and glow of a dim golden-age, even his head had dandruff

He craved for the football field of the square, the green grass and dirt
Woe unto strength, he could hardly hold unto his walk-stick of comfort
And the word pleasure, had not descended his mouth in a long while
When he sighs in the wind, searching his soul for his forgotten smile

The old man was very tired, his eyes were blurry and sun-flies bit him
And he was missing his health, his limbs vibrated from parkinsonism
He often thought about the love of his life, his children and his wife
They were nowhere to be found, all had been driven faraway by strife

He remembered the rays of forgotten beauty, and it came with pains
How much, even for a little while, he wanted to dance inside the rains
Nothing more, he was of the opinion he had long faded from the world
He let out yet another snooze, ready to go home with the stories untold.
