Cork Ireland/One Year Later
(One Hour Before Lockdown)
Rob- Jay is back at nerve monitoring the feed as Billy and set up the cameras and microphones.
Billy- Walking the desolate halls beside Rob as we set up the equipment. "This place is huge." We get get turned around once or twice.
Rob- (Nods Agreeingly) After getting lost once more, we finish setting up the last of the cameras.
Billy- We walk all the way back to the main floor and behind the nurses desk. "Do we need to fix anything?"
Jay- Sitting at the nurses desk where our gear is set up, I check over the cameras and microphones. (Nods Approvingly) "Everything is in working order."
(Half-Hour Before Lockdown)
Aaron- Nick, Dakota and I make sure that all the batteries are at full and to grab extra ones, plus we pocket all our hand devices.
Nick- Walking over to my husband as I rest my hand at his hip.
Zak- (Smirks) "Distracting as always." Leaning slightly, I press my lips to his.
Nick- Happily returning the kiss.
Billy- (Rolls Eyes) Walking over with a file on hand. "Here is the info on our location." I hand it to Zak. "You can do the intro however you wish, just don't fight over the file it's our only copy."
Nick- Giving Billy a rather scandalized look. "We would never!"
Zak- (Chuckles) Pressing my lips to my husbands temple. "Alright, let's get the intro done." We head down the hall towards the main door and find both Katrina an Briar gazing out a window. (Mutters Lowly) "Weren't they with us this whole time?"
Nick- Rather curious, we all gaze out the window with the girls.
Briar- Taking in the vast scenery that surrounds us. "It is so beautiful here..."
Katrina- (Smiles) "And peaceful..." Realizing what I just said. "Considering it's an abandoned asylum." (Blushes Darkly)
Aaron- Both of them turn fifty shades of red. (Chuckles)
Billy- (Laughs)
Rob and Jay- (Smiles)
Dakota- Walking up behind my girlfriend, I wrap my arms around her waist as I kiss her cheek. (Smiles Fondly)
Zak- (Hums Softly) "There is a morbid beauty to this place." Leaving it at that, we all head outside.
Jay- Billy, Aaron, Rob, Dakota and I set up with our cameras on Zak, Nick, Katrina and Brier.
Aaron- (Smirks and Mutters) "This is gonna be good."
Rob- Hearing Aaron. (Nods Agreeingly)
Dakota- Making sure my camera is on and rolling, I easily slip into work mode eager to capture anything paranormal and was just as excited to see my girl do her thing. (Smiles Proudly)
Billy- Giving the four their cue.
Zak- Getting our cue, I start us off. (Smiles Widely) "Ladies and Gentlemen tonight we will be spending the next twenty four hours, locked down in this Asylum." Holding up the file in my hand, I pass it to Nick.
Nick- Without questioning it, I take the file and flip it open. "The old Cork Lunatic Asylum was built in Victorian times and later emerged in time as Our Lady's Hospital." I hand the file to Katrina next.
Katrina- Taking the file, I pick up where Nick leaves off. "The first asylum, for what contemporary society deemed 'insane' in Cork, was founded under the Irish Gaol Act of 1787." I hand the file to Briar.
Briar- Flipping to the next page and continuing. "The asylum is located at a commanding location on a steep hill, overlooking the River Lee. The building is three floors high and is divided into four distinct blocks. Three blocks are located at the front and designed to contain the apartments for patients, along with the residences for the physicians, matron and other officials of the Asylum. The building materials are reddish sandstone, obtained near the site and grey limestone quarried from sites opposite of the River Lee. Internal fittings such as fireplaces were said to be of marble supplied from the southside of the city. The fourth building block was located at the rear of the central block and comprised the kitchen, laundry, workshops, bakehouse, boiler house and other rooms of an office nature. Heating was steam generated in a furnace house." I hand the file back to Katrina.
Katrin- I take the file and continue where she left off. "The new Asylum was named Eglinton Lunatic Asylum after the Earl of Eglington and was opened in 1852. The principal types of people admitted which made up the highest number comprised housewives, labouring classes, servants and the unemployed. Forty-two forms of 'lunacy' were identified from causes such as mental anxiety, grief, epilepsy, death, emigration to 'religious insanity', nervous depression, want of employment and desertion of husband or wife. Plans for an extension to Eglington Asylum were put together in the 1870's. The aim was to accommodate over thirteen-hundred patients. The three blocks were connected into a single building. In 1895, the Cork Asylum was described as one of the most modern asylums in Western Europe." I hand the file to Nick.
Nick- Taking the file, I continue where the girls had left off as I flip to the next page. "Conditions in the institution were deemed good by critics. Making up staff, there were seventy-two men and fifty-six women. Lectures were given to the staff by lecturers of mental illness at Queen's University College Cork now UCC. A Church of Ireland chapel was completed in November 1885 with William Hill as architect. In 1898, a Roman Catholic Church was designed by Hill and St Kevin's Asylum was also constructed. In 1899, a new committee of management for the Asylum was established under the newly formed Cork County Council. In 1926, the Asylum became known as Cork District Mental Hospital. In 1952, The Hospital's name was changed to Our Lady's Psychiatric Hospital." I hand the file back to Zak.
Zak- Taking the file from my husband. "Though there was good done here, there was obviously some bad apples too."
Nick- (Snickers)
Briar- (Giggles)
Zak- I glance over at my husband and daughter. (Rolls Eyes) "One of the doctors liked to experiment on the patients and witnesses say he's the Demon whom still runs the halls and you could still hear the anguished cries of his patients." Pausing for a few moments before continuing. "There is also reports of shadow figures, doors being slammed shut, whispers and screams echoing these vast halls. Witnesses have been scratched, had their clothes and hair pulled and have even left with broken bones." I close the file in my hands. "Tonight we aren't just connecting with the lost souls, we are confronting the doctor."
3rd Person P.O.V- One by one the crew enters the Asylum, the setting sun painting the scenery behind them in a glowing crimson hue.
