Chapter 4

⚽️⚾️Kayden's POV⚾️⚽️

"Shoo, shoo! Go back to your own house! It is in Olivewood, right?" Courtney says.

"Yup!" I say, popping the "p". walking out of her front yard, which is connected to her backyard. She follows me and waves to me. Saying bye, she catches my eye for a second, but quickly looks away. I've noticed, she can never look at me in the eye for more that a few seconds.

It was dark, 10:00 pm already. Wow, we've spent the whole day playing Geometry Dash and pranking each other.

I left her house, following her directions to take a left to a road that I knew. I look back to wave, but she was already gone. Suddenly realizing that I was missing my bike, I decide to get it back tomorrow. She had said to meet me at school at 8:00 am tomorrow at the lunch tables.

I walk down the street and out the small opening at the end to another street. Courtney was right --- the street was a street that I recognized. I take a left, following the sidewalk until I reached a corner of two intersecting streets making a capital "T". My street name was an awesome one --- Black Shadows.

My house was the second one down the street to the right. As I near my house, I swing my backpack around to my front side and dig out the key to my house from the smallest section.

I open the door, realizing that it was very warm in the house without air conditioning. Right inside the door was a long hallway with two open, high ceiling rooms. After that was the stairs to the right and then the kitchen to the front. The kitchen wasn't too big, with a little space to the right, connected to an open living room. At the left was a guest room, but Since we usually didn't have guests, there was no bed. Only two couches and a shelf full of books.

I head up the stairs and turn on the air conditioning and walk towards my room. It was dark and I was exhausted, even though I didn't do much today. Quickly cleaning up (you know, the usual brush my teeth and stuff), I change into my PJs and fall onto my bed, my eyes already closing as I slip into a dreamless sleep.

I lay in bed, unable to fall asleep. I don't know, all I could think of was how I had spent my day with Kayden, nobody else to disturb us. I smiled at that thought.

I may not be the girly kind, but I don't deny that I was crushing on him. I didn't tell anyone, though.

My mind turned back to right now, remembering what had happened the day before. Suddenly, tears were slipping out the corners of my closed eyes as I thought about my younger brother, sister, and my parents.

How could this be?

The only thing good about this, a small voice says in the back of my head, is that you get to spend time with Kayden. Kayden. The voice echoes in my mind, me unable to get it out. Ugh. Am I this "lovestruck?"

Finally able to get all thoughts out of my mind, I try to sleep, but still unable to.

I open my eyes. I must have fallen asleep. I was on my back, half of my body hanging off of my bed. I blink, surprised at the position I was in. I could sleep like this?

Adjusting my head back on my pillow, I close my eyes again, falling asleep again.
