🎹🎻⚽️Courtney's POV⚽️🎻🎹
"Please, please, please, please, please!?" Kayden begs. He gives me puppy eyes.
I stand up straight and cross my arms. "No." I shake my head. How come he suddenly wants to know where my locker was? Maybe because he likes you, a small voice says in the back of my mind. My heart flutters.
Kayden blinks tears from his eyes. "Umm..." I say. Kayden rubs his eyes.
"Gosh, it's hard to cry by keeping your eyes open." He rubs his eyes again.
I laugh. "Epic fail!"
"Please? I'll show you my locker!"
"Nope. Besides, I already know where your locker is."
Kayden blinks, then says, "Aha! I knew you stalked me!"
"Umm..." I say again. In truth, my locker is right next to his. And he never noticed. Wow.
"Actually, I don't-"
"Then how come you know?" He wriggles his eyebrows up and down.
"Because my locker is really close to yours."
Kayden raises his eyebrows. "Really?"
"Really. I swear on the River Styx."
Kayden frowns in confusion. "River Styx?" I roll my eyes. "You'll never find out."
"It's from Percy Jackson." Kayden blinks thoughtfully, and an imaginary light bulb lights up above his head.
He holds up a finger, "Oh! So you mean that black haired dude who's in our PE class?!"
I roll my eyes again. "Dude, that person's name is Peter Johnson, not Percy Jackson!" I facepalm myself. "Stupid dumbo," I mutter.
Kayden overhears me muttering and starts to fake cry. "I'm the smartest kid in my Homework Class ( AN: according to my cousin (Jerry) in college, people in eighth grade learn how to do homework )! And it's not my fault that I've never met that Purse kid before!"
I silently laugh at his remark and then I turn serious. "Shouldn't we go look for our parents? We spent yesterday having fun and we should work today. We could split up. "
Kayden nods with a look of disappointment on his face. Why? I ask myself. I shrug, thinking, whatever.
"You search Olivewood, and I'll look in Olivewood plaza and around. Don't look for the parents, but look for evidence. Keep watch over time. Come back in-" I glance at my watch, "-one hour." I say.
Kayden mocks me in a high voice, "You go here, I'll go there, don't look for parents blah, blah, blah." He glares at me.
I grin, giving him a thumbs-up, and his eyes soften with a dreamy look. I start to walk backwards, and he stays frozen, smiling. Okay. This is starting to get cre- "Argh!" My foot hits something hard and I fall backwards.
I twist around and prepare to hit the ground, but nothing. I felt arms wrap around me, and, knowing it was Kayden, my breath hitched. "Thanks." I say. He doesn't reply.
Kayden holds on to my tightly. I wanted to hug back, but I was in this awkward position where my back was bent at almost a 90 degree angle and Kayden was holding on to my waist and leaning forward. My legs were off the ground. I wonder if he's ever gonna let go.
"Kayden?" I finally manage to say.
"Mhm?"
"Can you let go?" I hated to ruin this moment, but my back was starting to hurt.
"No." I blink in surprise at his response.
"Ummm..." Suddenly Kayden shakes his head and his face turns beet red. "I mean, sure!" He says frantically. Pulling me up, he sets me down and scratches the back of his neck sheepishly.
"Uhh.. Lets split up now. Bye!" He quickly adds before sprinting away. Smiling, I shake my head at Kayden's weirdness and walk off towards the direction of Olivewood Plaza.
