⚽️🎹🎻Courtie's POV🎻🎹⚽️
I walk into Alberton's to look for anybody, anything. Slowly shuffling through the aisles, I think about the situation we are in right now.
The store was completely empty, except for the food and stuff, of course. So, naturally, I grabbed a bag and filled it with food. Chips, bread, cereal, milk, etc.
Putting some money on the cashier desk, I left.
After checking out Albertson's, I went around the plaza, grabbing food whenever possible and paying a lot less than I was supposed to. Still, I saw no sign of any people.
By the time I got back, my bag was filled to the brim with delicious food, and it was 9:36 am. I lean against the wall and dig some yogurt out of my bag. I take out a plastic spoon and start slurping down the yogurt.
"Hello." A voice says. Without looking back, I say, "Hi Kayden."
Kayden takes a seat on the lunch table in front of me. "Looks like you did find something good." He comments. I gesture to the bag. "Take something."
Kayden takes out a small box of cereal and opens it. Dumping some of the contents in his hand, he starts eating.
We eat in comfortable silence for a few minutes. Kayden catches my eye and smiles. Then, I break the silence. "We should split up like this more often."
Kayden's face falters and his smile turns upside-down. "How come? We should stick together!" He whines. I laugh and take a seat next to him. Slinging my arm on his shoulder, I say, "I dunno." I try to calm down my beating heart.
Kayden tenses at my touch, and I watch his face go through a series of feelings. Surprise, anger, frustration, happiness, then dreaminess. Whoa.
Kayden finally relaxes after a few seconds.
I laugh. "You're right." I say. "I stand corrected."

👾⚽️⚾️Kayden's POV⚾️⚽️👾
"Okay, since we're sticking together, let's decide where to go." Courtie says.
My mind was still racing from when Courtne-
Sorry, when Courtie swung her arm over my shoulders. Courtie. The voice echoes in my mind. Ugh! Ugh, ugh, UGH!!!!!
I. CAN'T. FALL. IN. COURTNEY'S. LOVE. TRAP!!! I tell my brain. KAYDEN'S ORDERS!!! There is something seriously wrong with me.
I glance at Courtie and catch her eye. Her eyes quickly flit away and she turns her head. I feel a pang of sadness. How come she just can't look directly at me?
"Umm," I say awkwardly. "Come with me." Courtie flashes me a confused look. She stands up and removes her arm. My shoulder suddenly feels empty without the warmth of her arm on me.
I try to give her a winning smile and edge behind me. Placing my hands on her back, I push. Sparks shoot up my arms. "Whoa Kayden! Be gentler!" Courtie complains.
I drop my PE bag (don't ask me why I have that with me) and kick it forward. "Soccer bag!" I shout, raising both my arms and running forward in circles.
Joining in, Courtie's soccer side turns on and she steals the bag from me after a few attempts. Man, this girl is good.
"Hey! Nooooo! Soccer bag! Good bye! RIP." I cry. Courtie trips over the strings and runs over my bag.
Putting my foot under the bag and raising it up, my PE bag goes up in the air and I catch it. "Soccer skills," I say. "Swag!"
Courtie gasps. "You just admitted your secret!"
"What?"
Courtie shakes her head. "You'll never know."
"I'll never know anything!" I complain. Courtney nods. "True." She says in a matter-of-fact way. "Hey!" I say. "I didn't mean it in that way!"
"Whatever." Courtie shrugs. She prances forward and I grab her shoulders. I get a nervous feeling. "Wait."
Courtie turns around. "What?" She says.
"What does it mean to say 'swag'?"
"Not gonna tell you. You're too dumb."
"Ugh! Please!?"
"Nope."
"Please! I beg you!"
Courtie looks at me and her eyes soften. She rolls her eyes. "Fine."
Yes! I secretly say in my mind.
"It means....." Courtney starts. "Nothing."
"What!? Hey! That's not real!"
"Itmeans'secretlyworkingagainstgirls'." She says quickly.
"What?"
"Secretlyworkingagainstgirls." She repeats.
"Say it slower." I instruct.
"Sssseeeeeeccccccrrrreeeetttttllllllllyyyyyyyy wwwwwwwoooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkkkkkkiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnggggggggg aaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnssssssssttttttttttt ggggggggggggiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrlllllllllllllsssssssssssss." She drags out.
I facepalm. "Oh. My. Gosh! Say it in a regular speed!"
"Okay. Fine. Secretly Working Against Girls. That means you work against me. You're mean."
It took me a second to process. "Ohhhhhhh," I say. "No, no! I didn't mean it that way!"
Courtie spins around, her long black-ish hair gleaming in the sun. I just realized, Courtie's hair becomes blonder at the ends, the color much like my hair.
"Ok. Let's go now." I say.

I bring her to a passageway that I had found in the bushes a year ago. It led to a beautiful place, trees surrounding us making a circle. The wind was blowing, and sunlight streamed through the trees.
"Whoa..." Courtie mutters.
I smile and sit down, taking off my shoes and dipping my feet in a mini stream. I pat the ground next to me. Courtie sits down next to me. We sit there, our bare feet dangling in the water.
I was consciously aware of Courtie's arm brushing against mine. I suddenly feel nervous. No. Don't. Kayden, Kayden, Kayden! I scold myself.
I hit myself on my head to stop these thoughts from coming through.
Courtney looks over uncertainly. "I was just... Ummm... I just... Ummm..... Felt like ..... Doing that." I stutter.
Courtney stands up and puts her shoes on. "I'm leaving." She announced, and she picked her. Way through the bushes that I had led her through earlier.
