⚽️🎻🎹Courtney's POV🎹🎻⚽️

I hop on my bike, getting ready to go to school. I glance at my watch. 7:50. Perfect time to leave.

I rode in the middle of the street, following the twisting but no longer unfamiliar road.

Footsteps.

I brake my bike suddenly, which brought myself forward. Steadying myself with my feet, the bike fell on top of me and I collapsed.

Footsteps getting closer.

Looking up, I see Kayden walking towards me, a smirk on his face. "You okay?"

Oh gods, this is embarrassing.

I get up, picking my bike up and inspect my leg for any bruises. Pretty sure, there was a bruise forming on my shin.

I stand up. "I'm fine, I guess." I flash him a smile. "Let's see who can get to school first."

Kayden's smile wavers. "But you can bike faster than I can run!"

I couldn't help but laugh. "The fastest runner in class is doubting his own abilities!" I say in a mocking voice.

Kayden's eyes harden and he says, "Fine," and runs off sprinting.

I was going to shout after him, but I decide not to. He is running, after all. I jump on my bike and slowly pedal away.

⚽️⚾️Kayden's POV⚾️⚽️

I kept my eyes forward and arms relaxed. I pretended that I was running the mile. After all, my fastest mile time was 5:49. Awesome, right?

I remembered when Courtney grinned at me. Was that smile at me, or for me? I hoped it was for me. Her teeth were so white, and the way her long hair swept over her should--

Whoa, whoa! What did I just think? I push those thoughts away. No crushing. No no.

I kept on pushing myself forward up the hill. I was here, and still no sign of Courtney. Where was she?

Don't tell me she disappeared. No. Not like my sisters. As annoying as they are, I still love them. I know, cheesy, but, hey, it's true!

Right before I enter school campus, I hear the sound of a chain. Already out of breath, I try to start sprinting. Courtney appears beside me. "I gave you a 2 minute head start!" She yells. I ignore her.

She speeds up and passes me for a second. I scrunch up my face and sprint harder. I hear Courtney laughing. "You look constipated!" I couldn't help but smile.

I catch up, and for 30 seconds, we were head to head. Then, my legs got tired and I had to slow down a bit. Courtney took that chance and sped up.

"Courtney!" I whine. She looks back and slows down a bit, letting me catch up. "Please, call me Courtie." She looks down at me and smiles, making my heart skip a beat. Ugh. Not again.

"Okay... Courtie." She smiles again, a dreamy look in her eyes.

I start to sprint again, finally reaching the end. "I win!" I yell. Looking back, Courtney wasn't there anymore. "Uhh..." I say smartly. "Boo!" I hear a voice say from behind.

Jumping forward, I realize that Courtie was already there. I hang my head and pretend to cry. "Waaah!" I cry (is that a pun? Probably not.)

"Kayden, really?" I look up and see Courtney smirking at me.

I feel my cheeks heat up. Also, my ears heat up too. That's my problem. I like to do funny stuff that embarrass myself. It's embarrassing, but I still do it.

"Come on, let's go find something to do." Courtie smiled.
