Danny, Jessica, and Martin have been sitting there with no reaction for almost a minute. Me and Adam looked at each other.
"Helloooo!" I waved at Danny and Jessica, but nothing.
"Dude?" Adam shook Martin. Still no reaction.
"For god's sake, guys!" I slammed at the table that the whole restaurant looked in our direction. Thankfully, they clicked back to life. Jessica shifted in her chair and her eyebrows furrowed. Again the look of her linking the events, as if it was a crime and she was Sherlock. Except that Sherlock wouldn't take that time to understand all of this."So." She started talking. "You two." She pointed at us "are engaged, aren't you?" We nodded. "H-How? Like W-When?" She turned to Martin and fire was coming out of her eyes. "You knew about this?!" Martin almost stumbled on his chair. "I swear to god, no idea!" He even crossed his heart. "By the way! That's unacceptable! Heads-up would have been nice, you know?" Martin looked kind of offended.
"I didn't want to make a big fuss over it with your big day coming up. You already had a lot on your mind." Adam tried to explain.
"But this is big! This is bigger than big. This is huge!" Jessica started making big balloons in the air with her hands again to prove her point. I sighed. Then noticed that Danny didn't say anything. He looked like he was lost in his thoughts.
"Danny? You didn't say anything."
"Yeah, Danny. What's up with you? All silent." Jessica also started to notice. All eyes were on Danny."Actually, I expected you guys at some point would, obviously, get to the engagement part. The point is what you guys are going to do now. Opening to us isn't a problem, but your parents? The press? Are you sure you can handle this mess?" Danny was dead serious that he got us all by surprise.
"Wow. See what you've done! You got Danny to think!" Jessica started scolding us.
"Hey!" Danny sounded offended. We laughed for a while but our laughter went dull as we went back to Danny's words.
"I am not worried, myself. We have come this far. As long as we are together and you guys are with us." Adam took my hand in his hand with his fingers between mine. "We will be happy." He tried to comfort me and them, but I think he was still weighing the idea in his mind."Oh. You guys are so cute." Jessica's squeaky voice came out in the background, then she slammed her hand on the table suddenly. I think I spoke for every one including the other tables when I say that she scared us to death. "But! No wedding until I come back from my honeymoon! That's a warning Adam Switzer and Mandy Dylan!" Narrowing her eyes at us. We nodded multiple times till she relaxed back in her seat. They are without doubt the best friends a person could be lucky enough to have.
After we left, Adam walked me back home. We were walking hand in hand, yet it still felt like a dream. We were walking freely, not minding the paparazzi or our families finding out, it felt nice. The weather wasn't so cold either, just a chilling breeze. However, he was so silent.
"Adam." I called his name breaking the silence.
"Huh?" He looked like he was lost in deep thought.
"Nothing. I was just making sure you are still there."
"Sorry. I was distracted again, wasn't I?" He was seemed like he was a little embarrassed for being caught. I nodded.
"Have you ever thought about what will happen next?" He asked.
"Worst case scenario?" I asked. He nodded. "Our families would cut ties with us? Or having our names in the media for sometime. That, my friend, might have a bad effect of losing customers' loyalty and lower sales in the worst case scenario, I guess." I explained.
"What about the best case scenario?" He asked.
"Our families understanding us, which might take time though, and our names in the media would attract people's attention more like free marketing. Which means more sales." I beamed at him. He smiled at my expression.
"Which one due think will happen?" He asked again.
"Ummm... truth?" I glanced at him and he nodded.
"I don't know. However, I have always stood behind my decisions. So whatever comes next-" we reached my house so I left his hand and stood facing him with my ready-to-fight mockery pose "I am ready for." He cupped my face with both his hands and smiled at me.
"You sure? You will have no regrets?" His eyes seemed a little sad though, worrying even. I relaxed my position and put my hands on his.
"I never did and will never do." His eyes met mine for a while, for reassurance maybe. Then he slid his hands from my face to embrace. "I promise this is the last time I am asking you this and I promise, you will have no regrets." I looked up at him.
"I know." I said softly.
"You better get going before I change my mind." I gave him a quick kiss on his lips and left but he grabbed me back for deep, long one. Where was I going again? Ah! Home, right!
"Sweet dreams."
"Sweet dreams." We let go of our hands and I got inside the building.
