"Look, just answer your phone because it's driving me crazy in the morning." Danny pointed at my phone on the dining table, while having breakfast. I turned the sound off and went back to my toast. He is right, it has been driving me crazy since yesterday anyway that I had to turn it off. Adam hasn't stopped calling since the morning. However, it stopped.
"Finally!" He said before taking his plate to the kitchen. I am still staring at my plate and chewing slowly, still confused about yesterday.
"Psst!" Danny was eye leveling me now, when I looked up. That I was startled. He winked. "Cheer up, sunshine! You know I won't let you leave home that way, right?" He flicked my nose to smiled and it worked, but it hurt.
"It's okay, Danny" I looked at him and he seems still unconvinced. "Really." I tried to sound as confident as possible. I got up and took my plate to the kitchen. Then took my cup of coffee in my hands and showed my fake high spirit and the from ear to ear smile. All of that and Danny is following me. "I am going to get dressed and get moving. We are going to take a taxi, because I left the car at home." I took a sip of my hot, amazing coffee. I dissolved at it's warmth and sweet taste, just like a sugar cube. For half a second I felt myself better. I felt myself, happy I guess. Satisfied. As always Danny interrupted my thoughts."Oh come on! We have to be moving in a lot of places today. We can't spend it with cabs." Danny started whining. I rolled my eyes and sighed.
"Don't worry, your majesty. As soon as we reach the office I will let someone get it, are we done? Any other requests? Can I get dressed now?" It was more of a warning than a question. He cleared his throat.
"I am good!" He raised his hand in an okay signal. Then he murmured "Geez! You are really going to be a pain today" I chose to let go of this one and called Emily while I am on my way to the bathroom."Yes, Miss. Dylan." She answered.
"Try to free my schedule for an hour today, Emily." I let her know and hung up the phone.I really needed to go boxing before I hit someone for real. For years, boxing has been the best solution for such situations. It helped me clear my mind. Whatever I felt or lived the past couple of days was just a nightmare, a silly one even that I don't even want to remember or even think of. Although I am embarrassed about how stupid I was. How could I simply develop feelings for a guy who I just knew a week ago? How could I even think of an engaged man? I know I didn't know but still. Again, my anger is starting to build up. I pushed the feelings and thoughts away. Focus, Mandy. Let's go to work. Work has always healed my pains and put off my anger.
I have been from production to the office to the designing room and many meetings to count with each sector to make sure everything is going as planned. Thankfully, it's only a couple of meetings left and they are at the office, so no need to keep buzzing like a bee till the end of the day. Even the coffee on my desk got cold again. This is the third time I re-make a new hot one. I took the cup from my office and went to the mini-bar. When I first came to this office before decorating anything or thinking of the walls colors even, I made sure to have a place for the coffee machine. I pressed the button and placed the old coffee on the table next to the machine and waited from my coffee, until my office phone rang. I walked back to the office and took it in my hands.
"Mr. Taylor, The head of Taylor's stores is waiting outside." Emily said over the phone. The Taylor's Stores are one of the most elegant fashion stores in Manhattan. For expanding we decided to retail at their shops as well. I told her to let him in and stood behind my desk waiting for him to get in. The door opened and Mr. Taylor got inside. That was the shock!
"Tom?!" I exclaimed. I stood so still as if someone just threw a bucket of ice on top of my head. He also looked like he saw a ghost, just before he broke into a short laugh.
"Mandy?!" he looked around and then his eyes fell back on me. "Hold on a minute! Righ!" He slapped his forehead as if he got everything together now. "Miss. Dylan! You are the owner. How couldn't I see that coming!"
"Maybe.. because you just thought I might be at a club or a spa somewhere by now?" Remembering what he said the night before. I looked as if I am waiting for him to recognize the thought so we can move on from this awkwardness. Thank god, he did and we both started laughing, letting go of the awkwardness.
"Please. Have a seat, Mr. Taylor." I gestured for him for the seat opposite to mine by the seating area.
"Please, let it be just Tom." He took a seat.
"Then, let it be Mandy too, Tom." I told him as we are getting more comfortable in our seats.
"My pleasure, Mandy." He nodded his head and flashed a smile. We were interrupted by the sound of the coffee machine, declaring that the new coffee is ready.
